Senior Backend Software Engineer, TikTok Privacy AI

As a part of TikTok Privacy & Security group, the AI Privacy team provides solutions to preserve privacy in all AI-powered experiences, for billions of TikTok users. AI is a critical domain to honor our privacy commitments to users. Nearly every feature at TikTok depends on AI, and AI-related usage of data directly impacts the product experience for all of our users.
In the AI domain, we are facing challenges of an ecosystem with multiple data processing systems, peta-byte scale training data pipelines, explaining complex AI algorithms and rapid development cycles. To fulfill our commitment, we will build privacy aware infrastructure across feature engineering, training data generation, model training, as well as product usages of AI. Our system will enable engineers to rapidly ship features with AI-driven innovation, without making privacy mistakes.

As a software engineer , your responsibilities are:
- Work closely with PMs to design user friendly & efficient platform functionalities for data governance.
- Be responsible for the system design and functionality development of the privacy engineering frameworks and platforms.
- Work on anonymization/psudomization/encryption technologies to preserve user privacy in all ML data processing activities.
- Work closely with operations & business teams to address technical challenges when applying solutions throughout our product suite.
- Investigate the cutting-edge industry progress of privacy engineering and get feedback from business lines, continuously improve efficiency & stability of the solutions.

Minimum Qualifications
- In-depth understanding of computer principles, familiar with general server architecture, skilled use of various data structures and algorithms, proficient in a programming language.
- Good business scenarios & requirements understanding, able to design reasonable technical solutions.
- Strong communication skills and teamwork spirit.
- With rigorous logical thinking.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above with 3 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience in delivering distributed systems and data infrastructure in a production setting.
- Experience of privacy awareness process design for SDLC, AI model training.
- Experience of data processing control solutions like purpose limitation, access control etc.
- Experience of data protection solutions like data classification, data de-identification etc.
- Rich experience in Internet product architecture design.
- Experience with data governance framework to register, manage, and control data lifecycle to meet privacy compliance requirements.
