About the Role

As a Senior Business Affairs Manager, you will advise on all Business Affairs matters related to production, including work for an iconic telecommunications brand.

You will support a broad slate of productions — from live-action commercials and animation to branded content and sponsorships, including social coverage of various brand activations. The role will involve creative review to identify any featured intellectual property licenses needed, budgeting, contract review and negotiation, rights management and working with legal to resolve any issues that may arise during production.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Business Affairs operations across the brand, supporting colleagues as needed and working alongside agency producers for timely bidding of projects, negotiating and processing various production-related agreements, declaring production insurance, advising on all compliance and clearance matters and the project wrap-up process.

  • Partner with producers to vet and negotiate production bids and finalize client estimates.

  • Oversee talent engagement and contracting, including initial negotiations, contract issuance, renewals and talent fee tracking (including reuse and residual payments).

  • Manage and negotiate contracts and agreements and demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Identify potential risks associated with contracts and business practices and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.

  • Maintain and continuously update content rights trackers, job logs, and asset databases to ensure clarity and audit-readiness.

  • Create and manage purchase orders; review and process invoices for all out-of-pocket production costs.

  • Collaborate with the Accounting team to reconcile project costs and verify client billing accuracy.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, account and finance to provide comprehensive Business Affairs support and ensure alignment on projects.

  • Work closely with our internal legal team, including the VP, Legal & Business Affairs, on matters related to production, intellectual property rights management, music rights, talent rights, and other clearance matters.

Report into the Director of Business Affairs for input in connection with matters relating to your day-to-day responsibilities.

About You

The essentials:

  • 5–7 years of relevant Business Affairs experience within the advertising industry, ideally at an agency.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, fast-paced projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail under tight deadlines.

  • Strong negotiation, communication and project management skills with a proactive and solution-oriented approach.

  • Creative agency integrated production / post-production background a plus.

  • Flexibility and willingness to take on tasks in new areas of the industry.

  • Familiar with/expertise in production company/post-production company/creative agency content financial best practices.

  • Confident in managing third-party clearances, including still images, video clips, and licensed music.

  • Familiarity with talent and production contracts and processing payments (In-depth knowledge of SAG-AFTRA Commercials Contract and talent residual payments.)

Bachelor’s Degree required

Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
