Yahoo is seeking a versatile, self-motivated research analyst with a passion for uncovering insights and a knack for transforming complexity into clarity. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, analytically minded, and eager to explore diverse data sources to drive strategic decisions. You’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering fast, accurate, and actionable information that helps our content teams navigate industry standards, government regulations, and competitive landscapes.
We’re looking for someone who is not only process-oriented but also experienced in working with databases and regulatory frameworks—especially from government sources. You should be comfortable translating legal and technical jargon into clear, digestible summaries and know how to separate critical findings from background noise.
This role requires someone who can move fluidly between big-picture strategy and hands-on tasks—from setting the direction for a research initiative to completing data entry with precision. Experience working with a remote team across US time zones is essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively and communicate findings with clarity and purpose.
Experience with AI prompting for deep research modeling and structured analysis is a strong plus.
What you'll bring:
2+ years of experience in a research or analyst role (market research, data research, competitive intelligence, etc.)
A love for research and self-driven initiative
Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets
Experience structuring and maintaining data in Airtable (or similar tools)
Exposure to AI-powered research tools (e.g., DeepResearch, Browse AI, Clay, or similar).
Demonstrated ability to build processes or SOPs for repetitive tasks
Solid understanding of data systems, databases, and regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to translate complex, legal, or technical information into user-friendly language
Ability to conduct competitive and market analysis using sources such as Google SERPs, government databases, and industry-specific directories or associations.
Experience managing both small-scale tasks and large-scale, strategic projects
Comfort collaborating remotely across time zones
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
Experience with regulatory or compliance-heavy industries
Prior work in media, local services, or e-commerce environments
Experience coordinating or managing virtual assistants or remote team members
Position Overview:
This individual contributor role supports Yahoo Local Service's Editorial and Operations teams by analyzing data and offering strategic research recommendations. You’ll work closely with editorial leads, data teams, and cross-functional stakeholders, delivering actionable insights to shape Yahoo Local Service’s research strategy. You'll also prepare and present findings to senior audiences, including Commerce and Local Services leadership.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Support both tactical and strategic workstreams, from detailed data entry to high-level research direction-setting and process creation
Structure, maintain, and clean Airtable databases for optimal data usability, traceability, and team collaboration
Source, onboard, and manage contractors to accelerate data collection processes
Conduct in-depth research on location-specific services, from high-level national directives to local small business offerings
Identify and vet relevant city, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy in content and recommendations
Translate legal and regulatory language into clear, digestible summaries for internal and external audiences
Work closely with stakeholders to embed AI-powered research, including AI prompting, into the full research lifecycle
Evaluate competitor data sources and strategies to identify gaps, opportunities, and best practices

The compensation for this position ranges from $56,250.00 - $117,500.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
