We are seeking a Product Manager – Merchant Reporting who will serve as the subject matter expert for all merchant-facing financial reports. These include transaction reports, settlement and remittance reports, remittance advices, and invoices. This role is essential in ensuring the accuracy, transparency, and competitiveness of the reports that support our reconciliation and settlement processes.
The ideal candidate will deeply understand payment reconciliation and settlement workflows (Base 2), have a strong analytical mindset, and be able to bridge operational needs with merchant requirements. You will work across multiple teams—PayOps, Finance, Product, Engineering—and build trusted relationships with merchants, helping them interpret and utilize our reporting effectively. You’ll also define and drive the strategic roadmap for merchant reporting to ensure Boku stays ahead of evolving expectations in a competitive landscape that includes players like Adyen, Stripe, and Worldpay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the go-to expert on merchant-facing reporting products across all formats (daily, monthly, transactional, settlement, and remittance).
- Understand Boku’s reconciliation and settlement flows in depth and ensure that reporting aligns with these processes.
- Partner directly with merchants to gather feedback, understand their reconciliation and reporting needs, and resolve reporting-related queries.
- Define and execute a strategic vision for merchant reporting, ensuring Boku delivers scalable, accurate, and competitive reporting products.
- Own the full product lifecycle—from problem definition to solution delivery—for all merchant reporting tools and services.
- Collaborate closely with PayOps, Finance, and Engineering to ensure timely delivery of accurate reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
- Continuously evaluate current reporting systems and drive automation, accuracy, and standardization improvements.
- Promote transparency and alignment across teams regarding reporting features, limitations, and roadmaps.
- Stay current on industry trends and merchant expectations for financial reporting.
Measures of Success:
- Reporting Accuracy & Timeliness: 99% of merchant-facing reports (e.g. settlement, remittance, invoices) are delivered accurately and on schedule, aligned with SLA commitments.
- Merchant Satisfaction & Adoption: Achieve a 90%+ satisfaction score from merchants (via survey or direct feedback) on reporting quality, usability, and responsiveness to issues or questions.
- Strategic Reporting Roadmap Delivery: Deliver 80%+ of roadmap initiatives within agreed timelines and scope, including new report formats, self-service tools, or upgrades to existing reports.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Ensure quarterly alignment with key stakeholders (Product, PayOps, Finance, Engineering) on reporting priorities and requirements with zero major escalations due to misalignment.
- Issue Resolution & Risk Management: Resolve 95% of reporting-related merchant queries or issues within defined SLAs. Proactively document and mitigate 90%+ of known risks related to reporting discrepancies, data gaps, or report logic changes.
Key Skills, Experience and Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or similar).
- Proven experience as Product Manager or Business Analyst with a strong focus on merchant-facing financial reporting, reconciliation, or settlement.
- Strong understanding of financial systems and processes related to transaction settlement.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for accuracy and operational detail.
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to translate technical or operational data into clear, merchant-friendly insights.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to influence across teams without formal authority.
Nice to have:
- Experience working with global merchants or payment processors in FinTech or PSP environments.
- Familiarity with tools and systems such as data warehouses, reporting platforms, or ERP systems (e.g., Navision, Jasper).
- Prior exposure to compliance, treasury, or accounting systems is a plus.
