Position Overview
We are looking for Principal Product manager for our India & Growing Market Development Centre. This is an opportunity to join a team building a new category of devices at HP.
You will be the software product leader, responsible for shaping the system experience, driving core software strategy, and partnering with leading global and local app providers. This role offers a rare chance to work at the intersection of consumer hardware, operating systems, consumer software and platform partnerships to create lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own end-to-end software product vision, roadmap, and priorities for a brand-new device platform
Collaborate with engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure alignment on product vision, objectives, and deliverables
Partner with UX designers to simplify complexity—create delightful, intuitive interfaces for new-to-PC users
Work closely with engineering, hardware, marketing, and operations teams to deliver seamless integration between software and hardware
Evaluate and onboard ISV and platform partners for different consumer use cases—craft monetization models where needed.
Define and track success metrics, user behaviour, telemetry, and performance to inform iteration.
Keep up to date with the latest trends in your relevant field, consumer preferences and market developments. Understand market trends, competition, and user requirements in depth.
Coordinate with marketing teams to develop go-to-market strategies and product launches.
Engage with customer support to gather feedback and address any issues related to the software.
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure product success and improvement areas
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field. Master’s degree in business administration preferred.
10+ years of product management experience in software or platform products. Strong technical understanding of Android OS, app ecosystems, and system architecture is desirable
Proven success in shipping 0-to-1 products or platforms at scale.
Deep empathy for first-time tech users, with a passion for inclusive, user-first design.
Thrives in studying and analysing complex data, drawing data-driven insights and decisions, and transforming it into simple user experiences.
Ability to develop strong value proposition messaging and have challenging conversations at executive levels, both internally and externally, to drive alignment.
Exceptional interpersonal communication, relationship management & organizational skills.
‘Entrepreneurial’ mindset and ability to adapt and navigate heavily matrixed organizations and thrive within a fast-paced environment.
