The Market Data Partnership & Quality Analyst at Yahoo Finance ensures the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of financial market data displayed across platforms. This role involves monitoring real-time stock prices, economic indicators, corporate actions, and reference data to ensure high-quality user experience. The analyst collaborates with data vendors, developers, and editorial teams to resolve data discrepancies and enhance data integrity for millions of users. The Market Data Partnership & Quality Analyst is also responsible for managing the administration of market data services, ensuring vendor compliance, tracking data usage, and supporting financial and contractual processes. This role involves coordinating with market data providers, internal users, and finance teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective data access for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Data Quality Monitoring & Assurance

  • Ensure vendor-sourced financial data is accurate and up to date.

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data displayed on the website and mobile apps.

  • In partnership with Customer Support and Market Data Engineering teams address user-reported data issues and provide timely resolutions to enhance user trust and engagement.

  • Work closely with market data vendors to ensure seamless data flow.

  • Monitor API performance and troubleshoot integration issues affecting website data feeds.

  • Evaluate new data sources and recommend improvements to enhance content quality.

  • In partnership with engineering develop automated data quality checks and alerts

  • Generate reports on data accuracy, latency, and performance metrics.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and editorial teams.

  • Assist in documenting data sources, issue resolution processes, and best practices.

2. Market Data Administration & Partnership Management

  • Monitor market data costs, ensuring accurate billing from vendors.

  • Track monthly expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.

  • Process vendor invoices and ensure payments align with contractual agreements.

  • Generate reports on market data usage, user activity, and cost trends.

  • Manage requests for new data subscriptions, cancellations, and changes in permissions.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of market data users, licenses, and usage tracking.

  • Act as the primary liaison between the company and market data vendors.

  • Assist in reviewing contracts, renewals, and vendor agreements to ensure compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with financial market data (stocks, ETFs, bonds, forex, commodities, economic indicators).

  • Familiarity with market data vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, FactSet, ICE, Morningstar, S&P, etc.).

  • Understanding of data licensing agreements & compliance policies.

  • Experience with financial market data platforms & user entitlement systems.

  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or financial reporting tools for tracking usage & costs.

  • Ability to process invoices and track financial data subscriptions.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors in market data.

  • Problem-solving mindset to quickly diagnose and resolve data issues.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced digital media environment with tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams & external vendors

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple vendors and contracts.

  • Problem-solving mindset to resolve data access or billing issues.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 2–5 years of experience in market data analysis, financial data operations, data administration, vendor management, finance or digital media analytics.

  • Prior experience at a data provider, banking, investment firms, trading desks, or financial media is a plus.
