Walmart is a multi-national people led tech powered omnichannel retailer with over 2.2M associates.Enterprise Business Services (EBS) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distinguished Software Engineer at IDC. As a Distinguished Software Engineer specializing in GenAI and Agentic AI, you will lead the development and deployment of AI/ML driven products; work with a team of Data scientists and engineers and collaborate with product leaders to drive innovation. Your role will also involve overseeing project lifecycles, ensuring compliance with standards, and enhancing Walmart's reputation through research and partnerships.

What you will do:
As a Distinguished Software Engineer, your role will be pivotal in:
- Leading the formulation of strategies and roadmaps for the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML, and GenAI models, ensuring their seamless transition into production environments and guaranteeing their reliability and scalability.
- working with a team of Data scientists and engineers in solving intricate AI/ML challenges through research and development, pushing the limits of innovation and making groundbreaking contributions to the field.
- Upholding and enforcing rigorous standards, governance, and best practices, ensuring strict compliance with model and data governance standards.
- Adhering strictly to Walmart’s policies, procedures, mission, values, standards of ethics, and integrity.
- Designing end-to-end system architecture for GenAI/A Iand data-intensive applications.
- Developing and deploying robust, production-grade real-time/batch machine learning services.
- Collaborating with product managers to design user journeys, feedback loops and analyze user telemetry, thus creating seamless user experiences.
- Developing quick MVPs/POCs to enable stakeholders to make data-driven decisions.
- System Design and Scalability: Architect complex software systems, ensuring performance, security, and scalability needs are met.
- Technical Guidance and Mentoring: Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers, fostering a culture of learning and innovation.
- Code Review and Standards: Establish and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and development best practices through thorough code reviews.
- Innovation and Research: Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, conducting research to identify emerging tools and methodologies.
- Project Management and Delivery: Collaborate with project managers to define project scopes, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with architectural goals.
- Collaborative Communication: Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, promoting a culture of open communication and collaboration.
What you'll bring:
Some of the skills needed for this role are but not limited to - includes a mix of Engineering, Algorithms, and Artificial Intelligence:
GenAI: understanding of use cases in implementing AI models and algorithms. Strong Knowledge of Python, including libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Scikit-learn. Experience with big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark. Knowledge of Scala for data processing and analysis. Ability to design and implement efficient algorithms for data processing and analysis. Experience designing and operating Microservices at scale and in data platforms and analytics Excellent decision-making skills with the ability to balance conflicting interests in a complex and fast-paced environment. Strong Understanding of distributed technologies, public cloud technologies, scalable platforms, full stack development, and Operational Excellence. Experience working with geographically distributed teams. Business acumen; combining technical vision with business insights.
