As a Data Scientist / Senior Data Scientist – Federal Optimization, you will partner with some of the largest and most mission-critical organizations in the world to design and deliver the next generation of AI-powered enterprise applications. Our team focuses on developing scalable, explainable optimization models and algorithms tailored to federal use cases across domains such as logistics, operations, resource planning, and more.
You’ll work cross-functionally with data scientists, engineers, subject matter experts, and federal stakeholders to deliver full-lifecycle solutions: from translating client input into soft and hard constraints, to deploying robust, production-grade optimization tools on the C3 AI Suite.
Qualified candidates should possess deep expertise in operations research and optimization.
This role requires US Citizenship.
Responsibilities:
- Research, design, implement, and deploy optimization solutions for enterprise applications leveraging the C3 AI Suite.
- Transform client requirements into mathematical formulations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate optimization model insights into actionable strategies and measurable outcomes.
- Assist and enable federal customers to build their own optimization applications on the C3 AI Suite.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance optimization frameworks, libraries, and tools to ensure scalability and efficiency while contributing to the continuous improvement of the C3 AI Suite.
- Stay informed on state-of-the-art optimization techniques, promote best practices, and foster an innovative and collaborative work environment at C3 AI.
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship (and willingness to obtain a security clearance).
- Bachelor’s in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research or equivalent fields.
- Strong foundation in optimization techniques (e.g., LP, MILP, MINLP) and solvers.
- Strong mathematical foundation (linear algebra, calculus, statistics, probability).
- Proficiency in Python and experience with mathematical programming libraries.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in teams.
- Motivated, curious, and eager to learn about federal mission domains.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS or PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Active TS/SCI with CI or Full-Scope Polygraph.
- Professional experience applying optimization in federal or customer-facing environments.
- Familiarity with commercial solvers (e.g., Gurobi), Git, and GenAI tools.
- Understanding of machine learning, deep learning, or reinforcement learning.
- Portfolio of relevant projects or publications.
