About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Counsel to join our Legal Team!  In this role, you will advise on complex commercial matters and help the company navigate the rapidly evolving AI legal landscape.

Your general responsibilities will include: 

  • Draft, negotiate, and close complex commercial transactions with the company’s customers, vendors, and strategic partners across diverse industries.

  • Partner closely with sales and business teams to develop and implement strategies that drive our high-growth, go-to-market initiatives.

  • Stay informed on evolving legal frameworks, industry standards, and regulatory developments, and apply this expertise into practical contract templates and guidance.

  • Provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice to cross-functional teams, ensuring business objectives align with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop and enhance playbooks, policies, and best practices to improve efficiency in negotiations and contract management.

  • Contribute actively to the Legal Team’s efforts to scale commercial functions while fostering a collaborative, supportive team culture.

Requirements

What you bring

  • JD with qualification to practice in the UK or EU; US qualification is a plus.

  • Based in the UK or EU

  • 6+ years of relevant legal experience (in-house experience preferred), with at least 2 years focused on drafting and negotiating SaaS or technology agreements.

  • A deep understanding of enterprise SaaS agreements, software licensing, intellectual property, and data protection, with the ability to navigate and close complex commercial transactions. 

  • Solid background in privacy and data protection law, with the ability to integrate these requirements into commercial agreements. 

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to advise internal stakeholders and engage externally with clients and partners.

  • Fluency in non-English languages is a plus, with a preference for French and/or Spanish.
