What a College Intern - Procurement and Commodity Management does at HP:
- Works closely under the guidance of experienced team members to deliver various procurement function responsibilities
- Supports engineering relationship with a supplier for the development and manufacturing of a product
- Work closely with suppliers to maintain assurance of supply for the commodity and take aggressive recovery actions during times of constraint.
- Works with suppliers to implement changes to product or process to reduce defects, improve quality, and lower costs
- Negotiates contracts with suppliers.
- Manages forecast processes for assigned commodity(s).
- Monitors and drive supplier performance improvement in areas such as quality, cost and delivery
- Assumes a quality-driven approach by establishing metrics for component production quality, conducting regular supplier quality reviews to uphold the highest standards.
- Supports the escalations stemming from part, supplier, or client issues, offering timely resolutions and mitigations.
- Drives internal system and process enhancements, aiming to enhance overall supplier performance across diverse categories.
Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:
- Undergraduate in Graduating Bachelor students in Business Administration/Management and Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering are preferred
- Impactful soft skills: Effective Communication, Business Acumen, Results Orientation, Learning Agility, Negotiation skills
- Digital Fluency in applications such as Microsoft Office and Power BI will shorten learning curve
- Knowing Scanner or Optical Imaging technology and Industry trend will be an advantage.
- Able to commit to a 5-6 months full time internship, starting in January 2026. Part-time arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
