Verafin - Software Developer Specialist (Agentic AI Workforce)

The Role 

As a Software Developer Specialist reporting to the Director – Software Development, you'll play a critical role in building and enhancing Nasdaq's next-generation AI-powered platform! You'll work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and troubleshoot intelligent solutions that leverage cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence capabilities. You’ll also contribute to performance analysis and optimization strategies that ensure the platform remains scalable, efficient, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities 

• Build and maintain AI features and platform capabilities that leverage large language models 

• Diagnose and resolve complex issues in cloud services and deliver solutions that improve customer success  

• Collaborate with product owners, developers, and support teams to align priorities, understand requirements, and ship features that enhance the platform. 

• Contribute to technical documentation, playbooks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. 

• Create high-quality code quickly and without errors, following best practices and mitigating risks 

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. 

• 5–10 years of software development experience with strong debugging and problem-solving skills 

• Experience with core AWS services such as Bedrock, API Gateway, ECS, Lambda, and AgentCore. 

• Strong hands‑on Terraform experience, including infrastructure implementation and management, along with knowledge of AWS IAM and cloud security policies, standards, and best practices. 

• Proficiency with Java and Python in object‑oriented programming, RESTful API principles, and experience with both relational (PostgreSQL/RDS) and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB). 

• Clear communicator with experience working collaboratively 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Hands-on experience with AI tools and frameworks, prompt engineering, LLMs, and AI performance evaluation (bias detection, hallucination monitoring, model drift analysis). 

• Prior use of AI-assisted development tools and techniques such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms. 

• Exposure to modern web development frameworks, distributed computing, or big data technologies. 

• Exposure to Python and Jupyter Notebooks, and SageMaker Studio is considered an asset. 

This position is located in St. John's or Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
