Job Description

As a Data Science Specialist reporting to the Head of Product Marketing, you'll play a meaningful role in transforming proprietary financial crime data into strategic insights that demonstrate the value of Nasdaq Verafin's fraud detection and anti-money laundering solutions.

You'll thrive in this position if you're analytical, strategic, and passionate about using data to fight financial crime while enabling business growth in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze client deployment data to quantify solution ROI, measuring fraud losses prevented, efficiency gains, and investigation time saved.

  • Leverage consortium data from 2,700+ financial institutions to produce industry benchmark reports and peer performance comparisons.

  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to create data-driven customer success stories, case studies, and presentation materials that demonstrate product effectiveness.

  • Monitor aggregated data to identify emerging fraud trends and money laundering patterns, translating findings into thought leadership content.

  • Present analytical insights to customers and stakeholders in executive briefings, quarterly business reviews, and industry conferences.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles, ideally in fraud detection, AML, banking, or fintech.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or R) for data analysis and visualization.

  • Excellent communication skills with proven ability to translate complex findings into compelling narratives for non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborative mindset with experience working across marketing, sales, and product teams in a matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep knowledge of financial crime concepts, fraud detection methodologies, and AML compliance.

  • Experience with big-data frameworks (e.g., Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS).

  • Background in creating executive-level reports, white papers, or thought leadership content.

This position will be located in St. John's or Toronto and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment at least 3 days a week in-office, subject to change, providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
