What you'll do...

Role summary: The Principal Data Scientist will lead the development and deployment of advanced analytical models and machine learning solutions to address complex business challenges. This role requires deep expertise in coding, statistical analysis, and data visualization to translate business needs into actionable insights. The successful candidate will guide teams in data strategy, model validation, and scalable implementation while collaborating across functions to drive measurable impact. Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities are essential to foster innovation and continuous improvement within a dynamic, data-driven environment. About the team: The People Technology team drives the deployment and adoption of innovative people-focused technology across the enterprise, impacting millions globally. As part of Walmart Global Tech’s Enterprise Business Services, the team delivers robust solutions for Finance, People, and Associate Digital Experience. The People.AI team develops AI and machine learning applications, including intelligent conversational interfaces, to enhance associate productivity and engagement. This role involves building advanced AI-powered tools that automate tasks, provide personalized support, and improve communication, contributing to a more efficient and effective work environment for associates worldwide. What you'll do: Develop, test, and deploy advanced data science solutions using programming languages such as Python and SQL. Analyze complex business problems to identify root causes and recommend data-driven approaches. Select and engineer features, build statistical and machine learning models, and validate model performance. Identify and source relevant data, ensuring quality and suitability for analytical needs. Create compelling data visualizations and communicate insights to influence business decisions. Mentor team members on technical and business aspects of data science projects. Collaborate cross-functionally to align data initiatives with strategic objectives. What you'll bring: Extensive experience in developing and deploying machine learning and deep learning models using Python and related tools. Proficiency in statistical analysis, feature engineering, and advanced modeling techniques including Bayesian inference and neural networks. Strong knowledge of data ecosystems, data quality standards, and scalable data management practices. Expertise in coding, testing, and validating models with a focus on accuracy, robustness, and business impact. Ability to translate complex business problems into data-driven solutions aligned with strategic objectives. Proven leadership skills in mentoring teams and guiding technical development. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS SageMaker for model deployment and lifecycle management. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field
