Role summary:Walmart seeks a Distinguished Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics initiatives that drive strategic business decisions. About the team:
The People Technology team at Walmart drives the deployment and enhancement of innovative people-focused technology across the enterprise, impacting millions globally. Within this group, the People.AI team develops advanced AI and machine learning solutions to improve associate productivity and engagement. This includes creating intelligent conversational interfaces powered by large language models to streamline communication, automate tasks, and deliver personalized support. The team combines expertise in business strategies, data analysis, and predictive analytics to build scalable, data-driven solutions that enhance the associate experience and support Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence. What you'll do: Analyze complex business problems using advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques to deliver actionable insights. Develop, validate, and deploy predictive models that support strategic business initiatives and drive measurable impact. Design and implement data visualization solutions to effectively communicate findings and influence decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data strategies and technology solutions. Mentor and guide team members on analytical methods, model development, and best practices. Monitor model performance and ensure sustainability through continuous evaluation and lifecycle management. Identify and integrate relevant data sources while maintaining data quality and governance standards.
What you'll bring: Extensive experience in data science, including advanced machine learning, predictive analytics, and statistical modeling techniques. Proficiency in data analysis, visualization tools, and programming languages such as Python and R to develop and communicate actionable insights. Strong understanding of business strategy, data governance, and data quality standards to align analytics with organizational goals. Ability to translate complex business problems into analytical solutions and define key performance metrics. Expertise in model assessment, validation, deployment, and lifecycle management to ensure robust and scalable solutions. Proven skills in mentoring teams and collaborating cross-functionally to drive data-driven decision making.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $260,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
