Make Wayve the experience that defines your career!

The Role

Wayve’s success depends on our ability to rapidly iterate on world-class AI models. The Technical Product Manager, Model Dev Platform will play a critical role in scaling that capability - helping us speed up model development workflows, reduce iteration friction, and accelerate learning cycles across the company.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the internal platform that underpins all model development at Wayve. You’ll be the first internal PM embedded in engineering, setting the standard for product leadership within platform teams. Your work will directly influence our ability to ship better models faster - growing our technical moat and impacting every layer of our AI stack.

Beyond execution, this role offers a front-row seat to the emergence of Physical AI - the next frontier of embodied intelligence. You’ll work alongside world-class researchers and engineers solving open problems at the intersection of machine learning, robotics, and systems. For those hungry to learn and lead in a new field with transformative potential, this is an exceptional opportunity.

Success in this role will require driving clear prioritisation, building world-class tools, and aligning tightly with the needs of ML practitioners and engineering leads. You’ll need to think strategically, deliver tactically, and earn trust across disciplines.

Examples include:

Improved Experiment Velocity and Developer UX

Delivering intuitive workflows, streamlined tooling, and reduced friction across the model development lifecycle - empowering ML practitioners to move faster with confidence.

Fleet Experiment Scheduling Efficiency

Driving prioritised, optimised usage of test fleet capacity through robust internal tools that reflect model team intent and operational constraints.

Platform Cohesion and Long-Term Strategy

Setting clear, shared roadmaps across platform subteams; ensuring work aligns with evolving business needs, and that platform debt is managed intentionally.

Voice of the User (Model Developers, Fleet Operations)

Establishing trusted relationships with AI Engineering, MLOps, and Fleet Operations; maintaining a robust feedback loop and translating needs into actionable priorities.

Reliable and Scalable Foundations

Working with tech leads to drive improvements in reliability, observability, and performance across training and data pipelines, experiments, and UX.

What Success Looks Like

  • Model developers feel supported, empowered, and move faster with less friction
  • Platform team execution is focused, coordinated, and aligned with model team priorities
  • Fleet scheduling and experiment tooling becomes a differentiator for velocity and insight
  • A clear roadmap is in place and evolving across the tools, data ingest, training CI, and fleet scheduling
  • The product function is established as a high-trust strategic partner within Engineering

Challenges You Will Own

This person will be the first internal product manager working within the Model Dev Platform engineering team - which supports the tools and pipelines used to build, test, and iterate on our core models. They will be expected to lead from the front, earn the trust of engineering and research stakeholders, and shape both short and long-term roadmaps for the platform.

They must balance tactical delivery (e.g. streamlining user workflows, enabling training experiments, unblocking data ingestion needs) with strategic planning (e.g., roadmap for efficient pipelines, developer observability, and long-term supportability).

To start, this is a senior individual contributor role - ideal for a high-agency person who thrives on operating with large, complex scope, and enjoys rolling up their sleeves. They will also be part of a strong, collaborative team of release managers and technical program managers who flex across product, program, and execution responsibilities. We value people who are not precious about role boundaries, who collaborate deeply, and who prioritise solving the right problems over defending turf.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and manage the roadmap across key platform surfaces: internal tools, training CI, data pipelines, fleet experiment scheduling
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and fleet operations leads to scope, sequence, and deliver initiatives that accelerate model team workflows
  • Serve as voice-of-customer for internal ML engineers and researchers - build empathy, translate needs, and prioritise accordingly
  • Drive product discovery and design improvements for developer tools and UI (e.g., Console workflows)
  • Identify and drive resolution of platform-level gaps, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies
  • Support incident response prioritisation and operational trade-offs with the SRE and CI teams
  • Communicate trade-offs and progress clearly to stakeholders across Engineering, Science, and Leadership

About you

Essential

Technical Fluency & Systems Thinking

  • Strong technical foundation - able to engage credibly with engineers, researchers, and infrastructure teams
  • Comfortable navigating complex systems spanning software, hardware, data, and operational workflows
  • Brings domain expertise in platform engineering, MLOps, and developer tooling - including CI/CD, observability, and orchestration
  • Skilled at surfacing technical trade-offs and guiding teams through architectural decisions and scaling challenges
  • Thinks in systems - connecting tools, people, and processes to accelerate impact, not just ship features

Execution & Delivery Excellence

  • 8+ years driving complex, cross-functional products from inception to impact - owning roadmaps, prioritisation, and delivery
  • Brings a data-driven mindset - balances evidence, intuition, and constraints to make high-quality decisions
  • Adapts delivery approach to the problem - balancing structure, flexibility, and executional rigour
  • Instils a culture of ownership, clarity, and accountability - with meticulous attention to detail across plans, documentation, and comms
  • Communicates rationale, trade-offs, and progress clearly to align and unblock stakeholders

Cross-Functional Leadership and Influence

  • Aligns diverse stakeholders - uniting research, engineering, operations, and leadership around shared priorities
  • Operates with influence, not authority - builds trust, drives clarity, and navigates ambiguity to move teams forward
  • Brings presence and empathy across levels - from ICs to execs - and communicates with structure, consistency, and credibility
  • Acts as a strategic partner to leadership - trusted to shape priorities, challenge assumptions, and represent cross-functional perspectives
  • Demonstrates self-awareness and a growth mindset - open to feedback, embraces stretch, and accelerates others’ growth through support and fostering resilience
  • Hands-on leadership style - willing to jump into the trenches and work alongside team members to solve problems

Strategic & Business Impact

  • Brings structure to ambiguity - turning complex, ill-defined problems into clear, actionable plans
  • Connects team execution to company priorities - surfaces risks, trade-offs, and impact
  • Balances long-term thinking with short-term delivery - aligning vision with measurable outcomes
  • Operates with a bias for impact - focuses teams on what moves the needle for the business

Startup Mindset

  • Pragmatic and action-oriented - balances shipping fast with diving deep when it matters
  • Thrives in ambiguity - brings clarity, confidence, and calm when priorities shift
  • Builds lightweight process to unblock teams - avoids bureaucracy, focuses on leverage
  • Driven by impact - cares deeply about outcomes and doing the right thing for internal users

Desirable

  • Experience with ML/AI workflows - including model training, experimentation, and modern MLOps stacks (e.g. Weights & Biases, Kubernetes)
  • Exposure to regulated or safety-critical environments - understands risk, traceability, and compliance constraints
  • Experience working with international or distributed teams - comfortable operating across time zones and cultures
  • Demonstrated people leadership - builds high-performing, resilient teams
  • Power user of AI tooling - seeks leverage through automation and designs AI-augmented systems that collaborate with humans

We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences and that not everyone will meet all of the requirements listed above. If you’re passionate about self-driving cars and think you have what it takes to make a positive impact on the world, we encourage you to apply.
