Senior UX Researcher, Alexa Experiences & Services
US, CA, San Francisco
Full-time
Job Description
This job posting has expired and no longer accepting applications.
The Alexa Experiences and Services UX Research team seeks a passionate, innovative and highly motivated Senior UX Researcher to join our research team. Alexa is the ground-breaking, AI-enabled, cloud-based intelligent assistant that powers Echo and other devices designed around your voice. We are searching for a Senior UX Researcher to generate insights into customer needs that inform design decisions, and evaluate usability of features in the areas of the Alexa+ (Generative AI) experience.
As a Senior UX Researcher, your research will be agile, keeping pace with the rapid innovation in the team, but also making sure that we're keeping an eye on the big picture in understanding our customer groups. You would be joining a passionate research team that is a collaborative, creative and cohesive group of tenured researchers.
You should have broad skills in user research and design research methods, and a thorough understanding of qualitative and quantitative research concepts. There will be overlapping projects, so you should be good at multitasking, juggling competing priorities, and organizing yourself. Most of all, you're excited by translating uncertainty and ambiguity into actionable recommendations at a quick-pace.
As an ideal candidate, you have a deep understanding of user research methods and best practices, but you also have a nimble, creative and pragmatic approach, and you're interested in pushing the boundaries of agile research. You are a passionate researcher with uncanny observational and analytical skills, an impressive ability to collaborate with other teams and designers, and a relentless determination to do what is right for Amazon's customers. You can work with minimal direction and capable of working quickly while delivering high-quality outputs. You will work on overlapping projects, so are good at multi-tasking, juggling competing priorities, and organizing yourself.
Key job responsibilities
- Perform research activities from study design to recruiting, moderation, analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct lab-based user testing, remote testing, paper prototype testing, iterative prototype testing, concept testing, field research, and survey design.
- Manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in an agile environment.
- Pitch in on various aspects of small and big projects alike, working collaboratively with other researchers.
A day in the life
You will be responsible for designing and implementing a research strategy - possibly inventing some new research techniques along the way. Your research will be agile, performing quick but thorough data analysis in order to create insightful findings.
Our team moves fast and iterate continually. You will be right there with them - but you will also find time to zoom out and ask the big questions that change the course of these programs. You will interact daily with product managers, designers, engineers and your research peers to understand and guide the team’s research needs, including designing and conducting research activities. The goal being to drive impact, as measured by changes to the fast-paced product design and development roadmap.
About the team
The Alexa Experiences and Services Design and Research group works on foundational and innovative Alexa experiences on Echo devices with screens, mobile apps (Alexa App), Fire TV, tablet and other devices. We’re a passionate group of designers and researchers dedicated to delighting Alexa users.
