As a Senior Software Engineer in our Fully Automated Messaging group, you will pioneer the future of personalized 1:1 marketing by architecting robust, scalable backend systems powered by advanced AI and LLMs, including cutting-edge Generative AI and GPT technologies. Collaborating with top-tier engineers, data scientists, product managers, and designers, you’ll craft the foundation and reshape the multi-channel messaging platform to support innovative, AI-driven applications that empower marketers to forge deep, meaningful connections with consumers at scale. Your impactful work will drive the delivery of billions of tailored messages, transforming consumer shopping experiences and fueling success for the world’s leading brands.

What You’ll Accomplish

Develop and maintain scalable backend systems for our customer-facing products, ensuring high performance and reliability

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build applications that support multi-channel communications for marketers

Implement and optimize systems that process and deliver billions of messages daily

Improve code quality through code reviews, testing, and advocating for best practices

Identify and address technical debt to ensure the long-term health of our codebase

Drive architectural design and technical decisions, and stay current with emerging technologies to enhance our products

Your Expertise

5+ years of professional experience in software development, focusing on backend systems

Proficiency in Java, Python, or Go, with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming

Experience building and maintaining scalable, high-performance applications

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Solid understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, writing tests, and continuous integration

Nice to Haves

Experience with service-oriented architecture and distributed systems

Familiarity with AWS services and cloud infrastructure

Knowledge of databases such as DynamoDB, Postgres, or Redis

Experience with messaging systems or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Pulsar)

Familiarity with frontend engineering with React and TypeScript

Experience with DevOps practices and tools such as Docker and Kubernetes

What We Use

Our infrastructure runs primarily in Kubernetes hosted in AWS’s EKS. Infrastructure tooling includes Istio, Datadog, Terraform, CloudFlare, and Helm

Our backend is Java / Spring Boot microservices, built with Gradle, coupled with things like DynamoDB, Kinesis, AirFlow, Postgres, Planetscale, and Redis, hosted via AWS

Our frontend is built with React and TypeScript, and uses best practices like GraphQL, Storybook, Radix UI, Vite, esbuild, and Playwright

Our machine learning is driven by custom and open source machine learning models, lots of data and built with Python, Anyscale, Tecton, Metaflow, HuggingFace 🤗, PyTorch, TensorFlow, and Pandas

- The US base salary range for this full-time position is $170,400 - $215,000 annually + equity + benefits

- Equity is a substantial part of the total compensation package

- Our salary ranges are determined by role, level and location
