Role

Are you passionate about democratizing robotics and making cutting-edge technology accessible for all? We are seeking a highly motivated and talented intern to join our dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of robot perception in an exciting internship opportunity.

As a Perception Engineering Intern, you will help scale our pose evaluation benchmark and data analysis tooling. This is critical for evaluating Intrinsic’s AI driven perception stack and ensuring we are production-ready for a wide range of real world applications. You will play a key role in reducing the marginal cost and effort required for new applications.

This internship will involve collecting and annotating data representative of real world industrial applications, as well as improving our semi automatic annotation tooling to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort. You will work with a large dataset of annotated part instances and contribute to expanding it significantly.

How your work moves the mission forward

Scale the pose evaluation benchmark to include a large variety of different geometries.
Collect and annotate a large dataset of part instances for evaluating Intrinsic’s AI driven foundation models for 6DOF object pose estimation.
Improve the annotation tooling to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Contribute to the development of production-ready perception pipelines for various industrial applications.
Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals in modern software development practices.

Skills you will need to be successful

Bachelor's/Master's/Early PhD student in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
Familiarity with Python and scripting languages.
Knowledge of computer vision and machine learning concepts.
Interest in robotics and industrial automation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Bonus points

Experience with 3D vision and pose estimation techniques.
Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools.
Experience with cloud-based data storage and processing.

The hourly rate for this position is $56.73 + benefits. Rates are determined by role, level, location, and education. Your recruiter will share more about the specific hourly rate for this role during the hiring process.
