About Callidus

Callidus is the most advanced legal (generative) AI platform, leveraging state-of-the-art technology. We have a substantially more powerful backend than others in this space. Using our tool, in ~10 minutes, lawyers can draft a high-quality 25-page legal brief with detailed reasoning, accurate case citations, and more (saving hours to days of work) and complete similar tasks across a wide breadth of modules. We are an engineering-led organization that believes in empowering great resources and working collaboratively on our mission. Callidus has just closed another round of funding, co-led by Myriad and AI Fund, led by Andrew Ng. We have hundreds of paying customers.

This is an opportunity for someone who loves AI to build an amazing product with substantial ownership from the ground up.

This is a full-time remote opportunity for candidates based in the US.

Your Role:

Software Engineer. Hands-on, writing code - not looking for a manager. You will report to the CTO/CEO. We are looking for someone who is full-stack and wants to be all-in and obsessed, just like a founder, and given meaningful equity.

Tech Stack:

Azure

Python backend, interfacing with GPT-4 and other LLMs, using FastAPI

ReactJS front-end / Node/Next

MongoDB ancillary backend database

Milvus/Vector databases

Redis

A mix of underlying foundation models (OpenAI, Meta, Anthropic, open to others)

Core Requirements:

Full-Stack Development ability (front-end and back-end) in Python and React.

DevOps in Azure.

An otherwise strong ability to have a high development output with quality code, detail-oriented user experiences, minimal bugs, etc. - the standard stuff.

Experience with LLM APIs, prompt engineering expertise, knowledge of LLM architectures, and experience at an existing LLM-based startup.

Good communication/low word: insight ratio, general professionalism, and ownership mentality.

Willingness to join daily standup and jump on calls quickly when you need to collaborate.

Willingness to stay on video for hours when partnering with another developer or an SME to work through a problem.

Willingness to join hackathons when necessary to meet a deadline.

Doing what you say you’re going to do most of the time and giving a heads up if you need to adjust.

Responsiveness.

General intuitiveness – the ability to understand work with more general requirements.

Full-time, fully dedicated, able to work U.S. hours (willing to work more than a 9-to-5)

Any experience in legal or legal tech.

Personal use of a variety of generative AI tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub CoPilot, Pika, Midjourney, etc.)

General automation and productivity experience.
