Job Description

About Anthropic

Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

As part of our growing Data Science and Analytics team, you will play an instrumental role in our company’s mission of building safe and beneficial artificial intelligence by driving data-informed decision making across our product organization. In this unique company, technology, and moment in history, your work will be critical to informing our product and commercial strategy as we deploy safe, frontier AI at scale to the world.

You will work closely with leaders from product, engineering, go-to-market, and research to define and measure key success metrics, analyze user and model behaviors to identify new opportunities, and build a culture of developing and testing hypotheses through experimentation. You’ve worked in cultures of excellence in the past, and are eager to apply that experience to help shape the cultural norms and best practices of a growing data science team as Anthropic continues to scale.

Roles within Product DS:

Claude Developer Platform

You will partner closely with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to drive growth and optimization across Anthropic's Claude Developer Platform — the foundational layer powering developers and enterprises building with AI. In this role you'll work at the intersection of product strategy, customer insights, and revenue optimization, surfacing insights about how developers adopt, integrate, and scale our core API, agent orchestration, and tool integrations. You'll drive data-informed decisions that shape our platform roadmap and influence how AI is deployed at scale across industries. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on the infrastructure that underpins both Anthropic's internal products and the broader developer ecosystem building with Claude.

Enterprise and Verticals

You will partner closely with product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to drive growth in Anthropic's enterprise business and accelerate adoption of Claude products. In this role you’ll also partner with teams building products like Claude for Excel for verticals outside of Coding. You'll surface insights about how enterprises adopt and scale our products across diverse use cases, measure the impact of vertical-specific features, and drive data-informed decisions that shape our enterprise growth strategy and our expansion into new markets. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across the full breadth of Anthropic's product portfolio through the lens of businesses.

Enterprise Code

You will partner closely with product, engineering, growth, and go-to-market teams to turbocharge adoption of Anthropic's suite of coding tools among Enterprises. You'll guide enterprise product development by surfacing insights about how organizations evaluate, adopt, and scale AI-powered coding tools and inform go-to-market teams on how best to drive adoption. Help to shape how enterprises integrate AI into their software development workflows, partnering across marketing, growth, and product to turn groundswell developer enthusiasm into sustained enterprise-wide adoption.

Claude Code

This role is embedded with the Claude Code product team, driving data-informed decisions for Anthropic's agentic coding tool that enables developers to delegate coding tasks directly to Claude from their terminal. You'll help the team understand how developers interact with AI coding assistants, measure developer productivity and product quality, and identify opportunities to innovate the developer experience as the product scales. Key focus areas include developer usage patterns across the platform, driving adoption within the developer ecosystem, and developer segmentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Deep dive into product and user data to derive actionable insights that inform product strategy and feature prioritization
  • Define core metrics and build measurement frameworks to evaluate product performance, user engagement, and business outcomes
  • Identify and size opportunities to improve the product, influencing product roadmap through your insights and recommendations
  • Develop hypotheses on product changes, design controlled experiments, analyze the results, and make recommendations based on findings
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to understand customer behavior, identify growth opportunities, and drive data-informed decisions
  • Build sophisticated models to segment users by use case, behavior patterns, and value to inform targeted product development and go-to-market strategies
  • Establish foundational data practices and help scale our analytics infrastructure to support rapid iteration and decision-making as our products grow

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Have 5+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles with significant focus on product analytics
  • Have 3+ years of experience working closely with Product or Engineering teams, with demonstrated impact on product roadmap and strategy
  • Possess deep expertise in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools
  • Have experience with experimentation and A/B testing, including designing controlled experiments and analyzing results in technical product environments
  • Have a track record of translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and business stakeholders
  • Demonstrate a bias for action and ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you must create clarity and drive forward progress
  • Have a passion for the company’s mission of building helpful, honest, and harmless AI
  • Possess strong instincts for what drives product adoption, engagement, and retention
  • Demonstrate exceptional written communication and presentation skills

Strong candidates may also have:

  • Experience with AI/ML products, large language models, or developer tools in the AI/ML ecosystem
  • Background in customer lifecycle modeling, retention analysis, and revenue optimization
  • Experience with usage-based pricing models and understanding how product usage translates to business outcomes
  • Familiarity with building and maintaining data infrastructure for high-scale products
  • Background in customer research methodologies and survey design
  • Experience working at developer-focused companies or on products with technical user bases

The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Annual Salary:

How we're different

We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.

The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

Come work with us!

Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco.
