Job Description
Visa’s Internship Program provides an immersive, 12-week journey where you’ll work on impactful projects that drive Visa’s mission forward. As a Visa intern, you’ll build valuable connections across the organization, sharpen your communication and business acumen, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, global environment.
Throughout the program, you’ll have exclusive access to interactive workshops and learning sessions designed to deepen your expertise, expand your industry knowledge, and elevate your professional skillset. You won’t just be learning, you’ll be contributing, collaborating, and innovating every step of the way. Team Description:
The Data Team is a key part of the decision management engine at Visa. This is a high-performing team of data scientists, data analysts, statisticians, and business analysts from all over the world. The team utilizes quantitative methodologies to analyze extensive data sets and develops sophisticated statistical models that leverage big data. Collaborating across various teams and functions, they design innovative and advanced analytical solutions and processes. Our focus lies on building creative solutions that have an immediate impact on the business of our highly analytical partners. To support our rapidly growing group, we are looking for Data Science Interns who are passionate about the opportunity to use Visa’s rich data to address and deliver significant results to complex problems!
As a Data Science Intern, you will be responsible for developing Data Analytics solutions to solve business problems. The intern will take part in developing and refining our data models and solutions through a highly collaborative process. They will work with different teams and data sets, apply much of the knowledge they gained at their university, and develop professional experience.
Potential responsibilities include:
- Prepare and manage datasets using tools such as Python, SQL, Spark, or Hive, including efficient data wrangling and fulfillment of ad-hoc requests.
- Conduct business data analyses to uncover key insights and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Design and develop BI tools using platforms like Power BI and Tableau.
- Interpret and analyze data by understanding BI pipelines, performing exploratory and machine learning–based analytics, and delivering actionable insights.
- Monitor and enhance BI tools by identifying insights, creating demos, and enabling teams to maximize tool value.
- Execute large-scale data analytics to extract and present meaningful business insights.
- Recommend improvements to tools and techniques that optimize existing processes or support new initiatives with long-term value.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, or a related STEM/quantitative field , graduating December 2026 – August 2027
- Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications that demonstrate professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in understanding and analyzing data using statistical software (e.g., Python, SAS, R, Stata or others)
- Experience with visualization and reporting tools, such as advanced user of PPT, Power BI, Tableau, open-source tool, or similar.
- Exhibits intellectual curiosity and strives to continually learn.
- Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards or merchant analytics is a plus, but not required
- Experience with extracting and aggregating data from large data sets using SQL or other tools
- Understanding of ML techniques
- Competence in Excel, PowerPoint and Tableau
Additional Information
U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated hourly range for a new hire into this position is $40/hr to $45/hr which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
Work Authorization: Visa will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position. Future sponsorship will not be considered.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
