Job Description
Visa’s Internship Program provides an immersive, 12-week journey where you’ll work on impactful projects that drive Visa’s mission forward. As a Visa intern, you’ll build valuable connections across the organization, sharpen your communication and business acumen, and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, global environment.

Visa seeks a Machine Learning Engineer Intern to deploy AI/ML model and enhance machine learning pipelines. This is an exciting internship opportunity inside AI/ML Products & Platforms organization. You will be responsible for deploying machine learning models into production to solve business problems. You will be surrounded by amazing talents who build the AI/ML models from research inception all the way to production. Here, you will be required to work with large data sets and handle real machine learning models. We have a highly collaborative process, and you are required to work across multiple teams and functions for developing cutting edge, creative and advanced analytic solutions and processes.
Potential high impact projects and responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with Data Scientists, Data Engineer, Software Engineers, Product Manager and cross-functional partners to design and deploy AI/ML based solutions and products
- Build end to end automated pipeline for AI/ML models including model development, validation, model refit, model recalibration, model monitoring and model serving etc.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
- Be an out-of-the-box thinker who is passionate about brainstorming innovative ways to use our unique data to answer business problems
- Stay updated on state-of-the-art algorithmic techniques and recognize promising innovations, adapting them to Visa’s unique business and offerings.
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, data insights, advertising targeting and other business outcomes.
- Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging Visa data to drive business solutions.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Machine Learning Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related STEM/quantitative field, graduating December 2026 – August 2027
- Strong communications skills, specifically the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications that demonstrate professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic experience or knowledge in one or more database tools, such as Hadoop/HIVE/SQL, and programming language such as Python/Pyspark.
- Experience with building Machine learning pipelines in Spark, Python, HIVE or Scala, Airflow, github, MLflow that deploy AI models into production
- Experience with delivering analytics solutions using any Machine Learning framework.
- Experience or knowledge in data mining and statistical modeling techniques, including Predictive modeling (e.g., binomial and multinomial regression), Classification techniques (e.g., Clustering, Principal Component Analysis, factor analysis), Decision Tree, Transformer model, and LLM etc
- Experience with office tools excel, word, visualization and reporting tools, such as advanced user of PPT, Power BI, Tableau, open-source tool, or similar.
- Exhibits intellectual curiosity and strives to continually learn.
- Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards or merchant analytics is a plus, but not required
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to quickly propose feasible solutions and effectively communicate strategy and risk mitigation approaches to leadership.
Additional Information
U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated hourly range for a new hire into this position is $40/hr to $45/hr which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
Work Authorization: Visa will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position. Future sponsorship will not be considered.
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
