Backend Engineer- Data Science

Company Description

As a Backend Engineer in the ML Framework team, you’ll build and evolve Wix’s internal platforms for ML and AI. You’ll work closely with data scientists and ML engineers to design robust backend services and infrastructure that power end-to-end model lifecycle, from experimentation to production, across multiple cloud environments. In your day-to-day, you will:

• Own services end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and participation in on-call
• Optimize platform performance, reliability, and cost efficiency across various environments
• Collaborate with our internal users - data scientists and engineers - in order to understand requirements and translate them into robust platform capabilities
• Build and maintain observability, automation, and CI/CD workflows that ensure safe, fast, and repeatable delivery of ML features

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a backend engineer building and maintaining distributed production services
• Strong hands-on experience with JVM languages, preferably Scala, for backend development
• Experienced with cloud services
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with different stakeholders across the company
• Collaborative team member who enjoys celebrating team successes and contributing to a positive team culture

We are Wix's Backend Engineering Guild. We provide integrated tools for microservice development within Wix to help improve developer productivity and best practices. These tools streamline the development process and reduce cognitive load allowing Wix Engineers to concentrate on their domain, architecture, and business logic. To handle high-scale traffic (over 500B HTTP requests per day) and 500+ daily deployments, our team of 500 Backend Engineers runs production across 19 distributed data centers and cloud vendors worldwide.
