The Role

Block is looking for an experienced AI User Experience (UX) Researcher to join Block's Customer Insights team to lead research initiatives focused on how artificial intelligence can meaningfully enhance customer experience across Cash App, Square, and other product lines. This role will be instrumental in shaping the future of AI-powered financial services and ensuring our solutions meet real user needs.

You Will

• Design and conduct research to understand how users interact with and derive value from AI-powered experiences, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation
• Translate research insights into clear, actionable recommendations that influence product strategy and design decisions.
• Partner closely with product, design, and engineering teams to inform how AI capabilities are integrated into our products in ways that align with user goals and expectations.
• Develop scalable research frameworks and best practices for evaluating AI-driven features across Cash App, Square, TIDAL, and other product ecosystems.

You Have

• 10+ years of experience in UX research, with demonstrated deep expertise in qualitative and/or quantitative methodologies. Academic research in relevant space will also be considered.
• Experience researching AI applications in consumer products.
• Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and near term capabilities.
• Proven ability to influence product and design strategy through research insights.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional partners.
• Demonstrated success in building frameworks, methods, or best practices that scale across teams.
• Strong data analysis and visualization capabilities
• Ability to balance user needs with business objectives
• Experience initiating and driving research projects to completion with minimal guidance
• Ability to oversee multiple, simultaneous research projects
• Experience with financial services or fintech products (preferred)
• Familiarity with prompt design, model evaluation, or AI usability testing (preferred)
