What you'll do...

Role summary:

The Senior Manager, Data Science leads advanced analytical initiatives to develop, validate, and deploy robust predictive models that drive strategic business decisions. This role requires expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization to translate complex data into actionable insights. The position involves guiding a team, collaborating cross-functionally, and ensuring alignment with business objectives. The successful candidate will apply best practices in model assessment, coding, and data strategy while fostering continuous improvement and innovation to enhance operational efficiency and deliver measurable business value.


About the team:

The team leverages AI, platforms, and data to develop secure, compliant, and user-friendly solutions that enhance Walmart’s Corporate Affairs. They focus on automating ESG disclosure, sustainability, and philanthropy impact reporting, while powering a global newsroom, streamlining communications and stakeholder engagement tools. By responsibly applying AI, the team improves speed, accuracy, and reach across operations. Members utilize advanced data science, machine learning, and visualization techniques to deliver impactful insights. Collaboration and leadership drive continuous innovation, ensuring solutions align with business goals and support Walmart’s commitment to trusted, data-driven decision-making.


What you'll do:
  • Lead development, assessment, and validation of advanced analytical models using best practices to ensure accuracy, robustness, and business relevance.
  • Design and implement data visualization solutions to effectively communicate complex insights to stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable data science projects aligned with strategic objectives and measurable outcomes.
  • Guide and mentor team members on modeling techniques, feature engineering, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Oversee deployment and scaling of models, monitoring performance and optimizing parameters for production environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify data sources, ensure data quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll bring:
  • Extensive experience in data science and advanced machine learning techniques, including model assessment, validation, and tuning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and SQL for data analysis and model development.
  • Strong expertise in data visualization tools and best practices to effectively communicate complex data insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide teams on advanced modeling and feature engineering.
  • In-depth understanding of business context to translate requirements into actionable data-driven solutions.
  • Proven ability to deploy and scale models in production environments while monitoring performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and present technical findings clearly.

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3: 7 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Data science, machine learning, optimization models, PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, Supervisory experience, Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch), We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
