Role summary:
The Senior Data Scientist will leverage advanced analytical and modeling techniques to extract actionable insights from complex data sets, supporting strategic business decisions. This role requires expertise in data sourcing, quality assessment, and model development, deployment, and validation. The successful candidate will collaborate across functions to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions, develop scalable models, and communicate findings effectively through sophisticated data visualization. A strong foundation in programming, statistical methods, and business domain knowledge is essential to drive innovation and deliver measurable value within a dynamic environment.

Walmart Data Ventures powers the data and AI platform supporting the world’s largest retailer’s suppliers. The Walmart Scintilla team transforms extensive data into actionable insights, recommendations, and innovations that enhance customer, merchant, and supplier outcomes. This team leads advancements in generative AI, agentic intelligence, and machine learning to redefine retail experiences, optimize operations, and develop new business models.   What you'll do: Identify and source relevant data from multiple business domains and databases to support analytical needs. Perform initial data quality assessments and ensure data suitability for modeling and analysis. Develop, test, and deploy advanced analytical models using programming languages such as Python and SQL. Validate and tune models to ensure accuracy, robustness, and scalability in production environments. Create clear and effective data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions. Mentor junior team members on modeling techniques and best practices.
What you'll bring: Extensive experience in data science, machine learning, and advanced statistical modeling techniques. Proficiency in Python programming and data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, and Tableau. Strong knowledge of data engineering, including SQL and NoSQL databases, data quality standards, and data governance. Ability to identify, assess, and source appropriate data for business needs and perform initial data quality checks. Expertise in model development, validation, deployment, and scalability within production environments. Solid understanding of business domains to translate requirements into actionable data solutions. Experience mentoring junior associates and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver impactful insights.

Bentonville, Arkansas US-09158: The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00
Sunnyvale, California US-11349: The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
