Position Summary...

The Senior Data Scientist on the AI Compliance team ensures that AI systems are developed and deployed in a responsible, ethical, and compliant manner. This role blends technical data science expertise with knowledge of compliance and risk management. The position involves conducting AI risk assessments, managing risk mitigation efforts, and providing guidance on AI fairness and bias testing. Additionally, the role develops and implements AI compliance policies and guidelines.

What you'll do...

The AI Compliance team at Walmart leads the ethical and responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), driving transformation in retail for customers and associates. This team ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance standards by monitoring laws, assessing risks, and developing strategic responses. They collaborate across functions to identify and assist in mitigation planning and implement effective standards and guidelines for the responsible use of AI. With a focus on leadership, governance, and clear communication, the team supports continuous improvement and innovation while upholding Walmart’s commitment to the Responsible AI pledge.

• Conduct regular risk assessments to ensure AI compliance and identify areas of concern.
• Utilize data science knowledge to understand technical aspects of the AI systems. This includes applying machine learning techniques and statistical analysis to interpret results and findings to ensure accuracy and fairness.
• Draft, revise, and implement AI compliance policies and procedures in alignment with current regulations and industry best practices.
• Monitor the effectiveness of controls, making necessary adjustments and improvements.
• Drive training and awareness initiatives on AI compliance requirements and processes.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to facilitate ethical and responsible use of AI across the organization.
• Stay current with changes in AI regulations and industry standards.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field. Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
