AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: AMD is looking to hire a Senior IT Engineer of Compute Grid in Compute Platform Engineering. They support High Performance Computing infrastructure for all AMD engineers across the globe. THE PERSON: You have a passion for working as part of the compute grid team to scale and optimize engineering infrastructures and applications in cloud and on prem. You have worked deploying scale-out automation technologies for managing EDA engineering environments and flows. You are aspired to explore high-performance computing solutions for improving the utilization and efficiency continuously to meet your customers’ evolving needs. Work toward IT alignment with the team's goals and business needs. Adhere to the team’s policies, processes, and procedures, from process design through to process execution. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work in a team of engineers responsible for the global grid compute infrastructure at AMD and be able to engage with engineering users at technical level. Being part of the 24x7 operations of AMD grid compute environment globally on prem and in cloud. With passion, enthusiasm and dedication for a metrics driven approach towards grid utilization efficiency, uptime, resiliency, performance, and end user satisfaction. Collaborate with other functions in IT across security, compute for a successful delivery of compute services. Propose innovative approaches and work collaboratively with peer teams to maximize grid performance and efficiency including overprovisioning workloads to reduce the amount of memory waste and the number of idling servers. Provide excellent compute grid support to make AMD engineers more productive. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working in globally diverse technical teams. Adept at troubleshooting, documentation, resolution, and reporting of issues. Experience with implementing automation to simplify and reduce redundancy. Excellent customer support skills. Experience supporting EDA engineering compute grids and applications, from open source to in-house workflows. Knowledge of cloud technologies including effective use of public cloud spot instances to increase the ROI for EDA workloads. Demonstrable experience in supporting large scale GRID solutions running LSF, UGE, Slurm, NC. Knowledge of Linux/Unix and NAS HPC for all types of Silicon Engineering and software development use cases. ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or another relevant field. Master’s Degree (MS) preferred.
