Job Summary:

This job acts as a project leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers, determining technical tasks, and improving existing structures and processes. It involves making technical decisions, collaborating with management to set standards, and representing the company to external partners.

Job Description:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Acts as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system
• Determines the technical tasks that other engineers will follow
• Actions result in the achievement of customer, operational, program or service objectives
• Proactively improves existing structures & processes
• Exercises judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities (time, quality, complexity risk) to identify optimal solutions to problems
• Notices patterns and condenses repetition into densely meaningful generalized solutions
• Collaborates with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor
• Trusted to represent PayPal, Inc to the outside world via interactions with partners, customers, or industry organizations

Expected Qualifications:

• Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Day-to-day work:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Backend Engineers, Product Partners and Partner Team Developers to rapidly build AI Native User Experience Applications and Solutions.
- Write clean, high-performance, high-quality, maintainable code.
- Create connectors to various Content and Colloboration tools using tool specific API's such as Jira, Slack, Git etc
- Design and develop Engineering Solutions & generative AI Applications for above ensuring scalability, efficiency, and maintainability of such solutions.
- Implement prompt engineering techniques and enhance calling LLMs for better performance and application-specific needs.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the field of Generative AI Application Development and actively contribute to the research and development of new Generative AI Applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years experience with atleast 2 years in designing and building AI User Experience Apps or Solutions.
- Proven experience working as a Software Engineer, with a focus on Front End Developement frameworks such as React, Next.JS , Node.JS, Electron, Python and exposure to Generative AI concepts such as LLM integrations, RAG Concepts, MCP Protocol, and Prompt Engineering Techniques
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as ReactJS, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript ( Mandatory)
- Solid knowledge of software engineering best practices, including version control systems (e.g., Git), code reviews, and testing methodologies.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate and present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to adapt and learn new technologies and frameworks quickly.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous learning and research.

The US national annual pay range for this role is $152,500 to $262,350
