Business Technology(BT) in Workday continues its mission to deliver unparalleled value to our business partners and customers. The Program and Business Operations team works with stakeholders within BT and outside to define, align on, and implement the strategic programs and operations. The team is also responsible for standardizing program methodologies, tools and operations/metrics across the BT organization to provide a unified experience to business stakeholders and customers.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Sr. IT Portfolio Data Analyst to join our Business Technology (BT) organization. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in managing a very large IT portfolio by providing deep data insights and driving continuous improvement in our reporting and analytical capabilities. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including BT senior leadership up to the CIO, to ensure data-driven decision-making and enhance the transparency and efficiency of our IT portfolio. This role requires an individual who is not only an expert in data manipulation and visualization, but also a strategic thinker who can proactively identify opportunities for optimization.

Responsibilities

• Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Serve as the primary expert for all IT portfolio data, responsible for slicing, dicing, and analyzing data in various ways to meet diverse stakeholder needs.

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance custom dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into the IT portfolio's performance, health, and trends.

  • Proactively identify and recommend improvements to existing reports, dashboards, and data collection processes to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and relevance.

  • Create and manage pivot tables on the fly in Google Sheets and other tools to support ad-hoc analysis and rapid data exploration.

  • Visualize complex data sets in a clear and compelling manner, ideally with experience using Tableau or similar data visualization tools.

• Tool Proficiency & Data Management:

  • Demonstrate high proficiency in Jira for tracking and reporting on IT portfolio data.

  • Possess ideal experience with other Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools such as Asana and/or Smartsheet.

  • Leverage experience in large data migrations to recommend and implement efficient and effective strategies for managing and transitioning significant data sets.

  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across all reporting platforms and data sources.

• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Serve as an executive-facing data expert, capable of presenting complex data sets and insights to senior leadership with clarity and confidence.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate detailed data findings and high-level summaries to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Translate intricate data details into easily digestible information, enabling informed strategic decisions at all levels of the organization.

  • Collaborate effectively with IT, Finance, and other business teams to understand their data needs and deliver tailored analytical solutions.

About You

• Experience: 7+ years of experience in data analysis, with a strong focus on IT portfolio management or similar large-scale data environments. Proven track record of delivering impactful data insights and driving process improvements.

• Technical Expertise:

  • Expert-level proficiency in creating and manipulating pivot tables, particularly within Google Sheets.

  • Highly experienced in developing custom dashboards and reports.

  • Proficiency in Jira is required; experience with Asana and/or Smartsheet is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to visualize data effectively, with Tableau experience highly desirable.

  • Experience with large data migrations, including recommending and implementing efficient migration strategies.

• Analytical & Proactive Mindset: Ability to not only fulfill data requests but also proactively identify opportunities for improved reporting, analysis, and data utilization.

• Communication & Executive Presence: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex data sets to diverse audiences, including senior executives. Comfortable operating in an executive-facing role.

• Detail-Oriented yet Strategic: Ability to dive deep into data details while simultaneously understanding and articulating the broader strategic implications of the findings.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
