JOB DETAILS: Location: Santa Clara, CA, US Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week) from Santa Clara in a hybrid work structure throughout the duration of the co-op term. Duration: January 26, 2026 to August 7, 2026 WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: You will enhance the open-source LLVM compiler for AMD GPUs by implementing optimization improvements. You will have a phenomenal opportunity to work closely with AMD's first-class Machine Learning and HPC applications to get the best performance from the LLVM compiler. We are seeking a highly motivated intern to join our ML Performance Profiling project, where we aim to uncover actionable insights from GPU performance data during deep learning workloads. In this role: You will collect and analyze profiling data from datacenter GPUs running various ML workloads. We will train you to develop repeatable methods using unsupervised learning, anomaly detection, and data visualization to extract performance insights. You will collaborate with developers to expand the capabilities of our internal profiling toolset. Your work will help make performance insights more accessible and impactful for users across AMD. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Passionate about understanding and improving the performance of AI models. Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in scientific computing, statistics, machine learning, and data visualization. Familiarity with collaborative software development practices and writing clean, maintainable code. Interest in learning about datacenter GPUs and their role in accelerating ML workloads.
