Software Engineer Training & Registry (AI Platform)
Job Description
At Datadog, we’re building an internal AI platform that powers scalable training and deployment of ML models and LLMs. The Training & Registry team plays a critical role in this mission—providing the services and tooling applied scientists rely on to launch experiments, track training jobs, and manage model artifacts from development to production.
Our team works across the AI stack—from distributed job orchestration to model registry APIs and experiment observability. We enable Datadog’s ML engineers to move fast, iterate safely, and collaborate across data centers and projects.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer who is excited to grow their career by contributing to highly technical infrastructure systems. You'll work on critical components of the AI platform, partner with applied scientists, and help build a platform that scales with Datadog’s evolving AI needs.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You’ll Do:
- Build and maintain backend systems for job orchestration, model tracking, and versioned artifact management.
- Collaborate with engineers and applied scientists to support training workflows and improve platform usability.
- Help implement model version control and feature discovery tools for production-ready ML applications.
- Contribute to the monitoring and observability of training pipelines and registry APIs.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and sprint planning with the wider AI Platform team.
Who You Are:
- You have 3+ years of experience as a backend or platform engineer, with some exposure to ML workflows or data systems.
- You’re experienced with backend development in Python, Go, or similar languages.
- You’ve built or worked on systems that process data or jobs at scale.
- You’re curious about ML infrastructure and eager to develop expertise in areas like training orchestration, registries, or experiment tracking.
- You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to shared tooling.
- Bonus points: experience with cloud infra, CI/CD, or ML lifecycle tools (e.g., MLflow, Ray, Airflow).
Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
Benefits and Growth:
- New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
- Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
- Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
- An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
- Access to Inclusion Talks, our internal panel discussions
- Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
- Competitive global benefits
Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
