About the Role

We are looking for a Shift Supervisor to lead our Las Vegas operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of operators, scheduling test requests, and ensuring the completion of missions in a timely manner at our closed course testing site in Las Vegas, NV as well as expanded public road operations in the Las Vegas area. You will lead by example and be a part of the team that will help validate SW on a closed course before its deployment on public roads. This is a high-impact role that demands great breadth and depth of team coordination, cross-team communication, technical acumen, and determined execution.

About the Work

  • Provide onsite support for our Nuro vehicles and operations personnel at our Las Vegas office from start to end of operational shift(s)
  • Manage a team of onsite operators and specialists on their well-being and performance
  • Coordinate and schedule onsite missions pertaining structured testing, deployment validation, mapping, public road data collection, demos, training, new platform and new vehicle bring-up and all other general test requests across multiple autonomous platforms.
  • Track and report on various issues and metrics spanning multiple mission types through cross-functional meetings, test results, and team metrics
  • Collaborate closely with our talented software and hardware engineers, fellow Operations team members, Fleet Technicians, and Teleoperator Operations team to advance our technologies and improve internal workflows
  • Customer obsessed and drive to work cross-functionally and provide support achievement of company milestones
  • Provide professional and technical leadership, direction, continued education and coaching for the Ops Closed Course team, including day-to-day test assessment, and Individual Development Plan
  • Educate members of the operations team and members of the public on autonomous vehicle technologies and behaviors
  • Lead planning and logistics for travel of team members off-site for special testing
  • Lead daily team meetings to prepare for and recap missions from the day

About You

  • 3+ years of management experience leading non-exempt teams
  • You have an understanding of autonomy and teleoperator systems
  • You are reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented
  • You demonstrate good judgment in fast paced, high stress situations
  • You are able to work independently or in small groups without direct supervision
  • You are able to effectively manage and set expectations using data driven evidence for performance improvement needs
  • You are able to clearly and effectively describe challenges or areas for improvement to stakeholders using accurate metrics to paint a clear picture
  • You take a hands-on approach to testing and are able to execute on testing needs as well as delegate them
  • You can occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, spend extended periods standing, and be able to work in temperatures above 100F
  • You have a flexible working schedule
  • You have excellent stakeholder management, communication, and coaching skills
  • You enjoy working cross-functionally as well as with external stakeholders and excel at communicating with all levels
  • You thrive in ambiguity and being part of a team building something that hasn’t been done before; first principles solution-driven 
  • You are available for our AM shift (e.g. 5:30am-2:30pm PT) Mondays through Fridays, and occasionally nights and weekends as needed to support unique testing requirements

Bonus Points

  • You have experience in the Autonomous Vehicle industry and are deeply familiar with the technical details of AV systems

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $60,800 and $82,080/year for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
