MTS SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER  

THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for an outstanding candidate to analyze and optimize performance of EPYC based servers for HPC and Machine Learning workloads.

THE PERSON:

Successful candidates in this role have broad interests in Computer Systems performance, with strong expertise in Computer Architecture, keen attention to detail, excellent collaboration, and communication skills (written and spoken), ability to work independently and come up with creative solutions to challenging engineering problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Characterize the properties of ML/AI/HPC workloads.
• Analyze performance profiling data to isolate performance bottlenecks on current generation hardware.
• Capture traces, run simulations of future designs and highlight key performance sensitivities and bottlenecks to microarchitecture development teams.
• Work with relevant software teams to drive optimizations based on performance analysis into key server software components (linux, compiler, optimized libraries, etc).
• Perform competitive analysis across AMD and other hardware platforms.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Strong foundation in any two of CPU core, memory, storage and I/O subsystems.
• Power user of performance profiling and hardware performance counter tools.
• Good understanding of operating systems concepts (e.g. scheduling, memory management, paging, interrupt handling, etc).
• Excellent programming skills (C/C++).
• Data analysis skills (Excel or Python).
• Familiarity with complex cloud or enterprise software such as database, data analytics, machine learning, and relevant benchmarks such as SPECCPU, SPECjbb15, etc.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• B.Tech + 7 years, M.Tech + 5 years, or PhD + 2 years in Computer Science/Engineering or related field of study.
