As a software engineer on the Simulator Core team, you'll work on the Waymo simulator engine which runs both Waymo onboard code and simulator realism plugins, such as simulated agents and sensor simulation. The simulator is used both in interactive tools, and distributed, planet-scale simulations. The simulator is at the core of our development and safety practices.

You will report to the Software Engineering Manager.

You will:

Design the long-term architecture and software features to fit the product for an increasing number of internal customers.
Design a smooth experience of how our product can fit into the Waymo eval tooling eco-system.
Continue to find novel ways to improve the driving realism of Waymo simulation.
Improve / monitor the scalability and the reliability of the product.
Mentor other (senior) engineers in the team.

You have:

Hands-on experience building a popular user facing (internal or external) product.
Experience with back-end development such workflows, database, SQL, and production monitoring.
Design and coding skills
Experience In C++ or Python.

We prefer:

5+ years of experience
Previous Technical Lead experience.

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process.

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

Salary Range

$192,000—$243,000 USD
