Senior Software Engineer - Developer Automation Platform (Backend)
Job Description

The Developer Automation Platform team provides the core infrastructure and capabilities to enable automated testing of the Netflix product at scale. Our Device & Test Automation platform empowers teams to certify and validate the Netflix TV, mobile, and web client applications, partner device implementations, mobile games, and more. We are a force multiplier for Netflix engineering, providing composable capabilities and pluggable abstractions that allow teams to manage, orchestrate, and analyze their automated tests and test devices. Our platform processes over 3 million test executions per day. We also play a central role in incubating GenAI initiatives at Netflix, with a focus on simplifying testing, failure analysis, and improving developer productivity.
What you will do:
Build and maintain services and infrastructure that power our test and device automation platform, with a focus on reliability and scale.
Research and develop ways to improve the user experience and reduce/remove the manual toil for users of our systems.
Optimize and innovate our platform capabilities to expand its impact on Netflix's quality efforts.
Collaborate with and influence partner teams to improve their testing and automation strategies.
Drive cross-functional projects to integrate and augment our platform with new use cases.
Explore and leverage Generative AI to enhance the productivity of engineering teams using the platform.
This role is right for you if:
You have a platform engineering mindset and enjoy building services, libraries, and frameworks that other engineers rely on.
You are passionate about software quality and empowering engineering teams with the right tools.
You are fluent in at least one of the following languages: Java, JavaScript, Golang, Python, or C++.
You understand client-server communication, including HTTP, TCP, DNS, and can debug related issues effectively.
You have experience designing, building, and supporting scalable and reliable backend systems.
You are a self-starter who takes initiative and delivers autonomously.
You are an excellent collaborator and communicator, capable of influencing and aligning teams.
Bonus skills:
Proficiency with TypeScript and both client- and server-side JavaScript.
Experience working with datastores like MongoDB and managing data at scale.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 - $720,000.
