Alongside our global campuses, we also collaborate with talented contractors and freelancers from all over the world to help us achieve our crazy big goals. 

This role is a 6-month engagement, working full-time hours per week.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Evaluating Canva’s AI-generated designs across formats - reviewing layouts, hierarchy, spacing, colour, typography, and tone

• Running structured testing workflows to validate generative quality across presentations, video, social, print, and more

• Flagging design logic failures, template structure gaps, and visual inconsistencies that automated checks might miss

• Translating design judgment into clear, structured feedback that engineers and content teams can action

• Helping track issues, retest fixes, and ensure readiness for public release

• Contributing to quality frameworks - supporting what good looks like in AI-generated design at scale

You're probably a match if

• You’ve built your visual design craft across brand or product environments, and you’re excited to apply that eye to reviewing 

• You notice when layouts feel unbalanced, type choices clash, or spacing disrupts the flow, and can explain what’s not working and why

• You enjoy refining systems, surfacing design patterns, identifying edge cases, and bringing structure to your feedback

• You’re excited to work with engineers, content designers, and other reviewers to shape Canva’s generative design future

• You stay focused and thoughtful in detailed, repetitive work, and care deeply about quality and consistency

• You’re proactive and motivated by seeing your input turn into meaningful product improvements

About the team

The GenAI Studio is Canva’s cross‑functional design group focused on elevating the quality of AI‑generated creative across our product experiences. We define best‑practice guidelines and quality rubrics for each content type, partner with product and design leads to apply them, and help teams ship consistent, on‑brand AI experiences at scale.
