What you'll do...

Position: Senior Data Scientist

Job Location: 221 River Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030

Duties: Develop custom data models to drive innovative business solutions. Build complex data sets from multiple data sources, both internally and externally. Conduct advanced statistical analysis to determine trends and significant data relationships. Build learning systems to analyze and filter continuous data flows and offline data analysis. Train algorithms to apply models to new data sets. Validate models and algorithmic techniques. Scale new algorithms to large data sets. Combine data features to determine search models. Research new techniques and best practices within the industry. Utilize system tools including MySQL, Python, Spark, GCP and Tableau. Analyze large data sets to develop custom models and algorithms to drive business solutions. Work on project teams to provide analytical support to projects (for example, email targeting, business optimization, consumer recommendations) for Walmart eCommerce. Build large data sets from multiple sources to build algorithms for predicting future data characteristics. Those algorithms will be tested, validated, and applied to large data sets. Train the algorithms so they can be applied to future data sets and provide the appropriate search results. Research new trends in the industry and utilize up-to-date technology (for example, Agentic AI, LLMs, CrewAI, LangChain) and analytical skills to support assigned projects. Work with cross-functional partners across the business. Develop models of current state to determine needed improvements.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), Computational Data Science, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering (any), Computational Data Science, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.

Skills required: Experience fitting and fine-tuning supervised and unsupervised machine learning models using Python. Experience using Pyspark to preprocess large-scale data, identify trends, patterns, and outliers, and build distributed models. Experience using SQL to extract, transform, and load data, and extract business-relevant insights. Experience designing and developing interactive dashboards to drive business action using Tableau and Looker. Experience architecting and productionalizing end-to-end machine learning systems on AWS, GCP, and Azure/Cloud that can scale and are fault tolerant. Experience reviewing the latest research to design cutting edge machine learning systems. Experience designing efficient relational databases to store and run efficient queries for large-scale analytics. Experience writing modularized, instrumented, tested, and well-documented code and maintaining it on Git to allow for collaboration. Experience defining KPIs, designing A/B tests, and leading offline and online evaluations to measure and optimize model effectiveness. Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, UX, and Business teams to align machine learning initiatives with strategic goals. Experience working with Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) and Engineering teams to deploy and maintain scalable Machine Learning (ML) solutions that power real-time experiences. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $109,491/year to $216,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
