Perplexity is seeking an experienced Search Engineer to shape the future of the search infrastructure that powers our products. If you're keen on pushing boundaries and making a significant impact, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

Designing and building large-scale infrastructure to power crawling, ranking, and retrieval systems.
Scaling and optimizing search engine for maximum efficiency.
Enhancing serving infrastructure to reduce costs and latency while maintaining 99.9% uptime.
Training and evaluating various ranking models, including LLMs.

Qualifications

Proven experience with large-scale search and retrieval systems.
Strong programming skills; versatility is a plus.
Self-starter with a willingness to take ownership of tasks.
Passion for tackling challenging problems.

Our cash compensation range for this role is $160,000 - $250,000.

In January 2024, we raised $73.6 million in a Series B round led by IVP, with participation from NVIDIA, Jeff Bezos' investment fund, NEA, Databricks, and other prominent firms. We followed that up with a $62.7 million Series B1 round in April 2024 led by Daniel Gross, valuing Perplexity at over $1 billion.

Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity is part of the total compensation package.
