The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Data Annotation Specialist to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality data annotation projects. This role is critical in ensuring that our datasets meet internal standards and support machine learning, AI development, and analytics initiatives.This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in clinician workflows and terminology.. By working on this, you'll be directly enhancing our AI algorithms and systems, making a significant impact on the future of healthcare technology.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor data annotation projects from initiation to delivery

  • Collaborate: Work closely with the research team, product team, healthcare providers and UI/UX team to accurately identify the elements in need of annotation.

  • Create detailed instruction sets and lead scaled annotation efforts with external annotation teams.

  • Manage annotation workforce (contractors, vendors, or internal team), including assigning tasks, tracking productivity, and resolving blockers

  • Implement and oversee quality assurance protocols to ensure annotated data meets accuracy standards

  • Proactively identify project risks and take corrective actions as needed

  • Ensure Compliance: Adhere to federal regulations, payer policies, and healthcare industry standards to ensure coding compliance.

  • Maintain Confidentiality: Protect patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in project management, data operations, or data annotation/labelling

  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities and keen attention to detail.

  • Billing Knowledge: Understanding of medical billing processes and reimbursement methodologies.

  • Educational Background: Medical training in areas such as pre-med, nursing, pharmacy, or international medical programs. US board credentials are not required.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.

  • Ethics and Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining professional ethics and confidentiality.

  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to stay updated on industry changes and best practices.

  • Initiative: Ability to work independently and assume individual initiative.

Commitment to the Role

  • This position is fully remote but requires a commitment to excellence and attention to detail. We value dedicated individuals who are passionate about healthcare and medical coding.

  • This is a fully remote position but may involve occasional team meetings or training sessions.

  • Our data annotation teams are a central part of the development of our AI products. All AI starts with good data. You are an essential part of our data strategy and the success of our company in new initiatives.

  • Must be willing to travel up to 10%

Hourly Employee Notice

  • Must be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, but may be required to work up to 40 hours per week

  • Flexibility and adaptability are essential in this role, as the workload and hours may change from week to week
