Job Description: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Operations Manager to join our legal team at Stability AI. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of legal operations for the team.  You will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, outside counsel, and senior legal leadership to develop and execute strategies to organize and streamline operations for the legal team - you will be principally responsible for bringing organizational cohesion to a lean, but highly effective legal team.  As the company grows, you will be responsible for building out the non-attorney legal professional team as well.   

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Operations Management:

  • Build and manage all aspects of the legal operations function, including organizational meetings, dashboards, information management, and prioritizing the needs of the various legal functions
  • Work with legal leadership to organize goals, objectives, and cross-functional communications
  • Arrange for and organize MCLE sessions, team events, and legal training sessions with other teams

Litigation and Investigations:

  • Manage and oversee discovery operations, including document collection, review, and assessment with outside counsel as necessary
  • Develop and implement effective strategies for managing multiple litigation and investigation needs at the same time, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of litigation matters
  • Organize and track outside counsel legal budgets and spends

Product and Regulatory:

  • Work with legal leads to establish a streamlined process for reviewing and assessing new global regulations
  • Coordinate with engineering and product managers to maintain an appropriate system for tracking legal advice and resulting mitigation measures
  • Work with privacy legal to maintain appropriate documentation evidencing compliance with applicable privacy laws  

Contract & Commercial:

  • Support the commercial legal team in building out an efficient and effective contract management system
  • Interface with clients to process commercial contract review requests 

Intellectual Property:

  • Maintain and manage the IP docket working with attorneys and outside counsel  
  • Maintain an efficient budget and allocation of resources  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a paralegal or legal operations professional in an in-house legal department
  • Experience managing non-attorney legal professionals
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong organizational and project management skills
  • Adept at managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethical and responsible business practices
  • Sense of humor and inquisitive attitude focused on problem solving and consensus building

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the technology or artificial intelligence industry
  • Experience in US, EU, and/or UK legal and regulatory compliance; familiarity with cross-border and international legal and regulatory compliance
  • Strong understanding of intellectual property, contract law, and litigation
  • Paralegal certification

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is between $126,000 and $234,000. Individual pay within the range is based on factors like job-related skills and experience. Total compensation also includes stock options and benefits.
