Role
As a Lab Technician at Intrinsic, your work will unlock and unblock the full potential of our existing robotics lab in Munich. Ideal candidates have a bias for action, and aren’t afraid of solving unexpected needs of the team. You will likely need to be comfortable navigating ambiguity and willing to learn new skills as the complexity of our work increases over time.
In this role you should expect a wide range of responsibilities including supporting mechanical and electrical installations, using your knowledge of industrial control systems to establish a framework for hardware selection, and ensuring automation workcells are designed with best in class technologies. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing hardware related office tasks including shipping, sourcing, and purchasing efforts. Your work will be a force multiplier to the efforts of the team.
How your work moves the mission forward
- Work closely with product managers, software developers, and researchers to maintain, improve, and invent our robotic platform from the ground up.
- Help build and maintain a highly efficient and safe working environment and team culture.
- Take ownership of designing and implementing rapid innovative R&D robotic automation workcells (from selecting hardware, electrical design to Robot, PLC and HMI programming).
- Incorporate knowledge of industrial control systems to establish a standard for hardware selection and PLC software.
- Source and integrate best in-class technology products into automation workcells.
- Multiply capabilities by continuously and actively weighing decisions to build something in-house or working with a system integrator or contractor to build a solution.
- Document and communicate your work for internal and external stakeholders.
Skills you will need to be successful
- 3-year degree or apprenticeship in Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Demonstrable experience applying robotics, PLC programming, fieldbus communication, or motion controllers to systems that have been deployed in manufacturing facilities and/or labs.
- Experience in creating risk assessments, developing safety standards, establishing a safe work environment and safety training for colleagues.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining highly efficient and safe work environments.
- Knowledge of debugging and wiring robotic industrial control systems.
- Experience selecting components and designing electrical and pneumatic schematics for automation equipment and ability to assemble, install and setup mechatronic assemblies.
- Willingness to work in ambiguity, select a direction and drive towards a solution
Skills that will differentiate your candidacy
- Professional experience designing mechatronic, mechanical and electrical automation systems.
- Demonstrable experience designing and implementing safety circuitry and safety logic for use in industrial automation.
- Demonstrable experience in implementing lean processes and safety standards in industrial workplaces.
- Demonstrable experience in holding safety trainings for colleagues.
- Demonstrable experience in managing inventory, procurement, shipping.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
