Head of HR at Character AI

We are seeking a talented and creative HR professional to join Character as our first-ever HR hire! As Head of HR, you will use your deep, versatile skill set as an HR generalist to create the basic building blocks the company’s HR team needs to succeed and grow. You also will serve as a Culture Champion, helping to cultivate and promote a culture of creativity, hard work, kindness, and success. Among the critical tasks you’ll take on:

• Create partnership relationships with senior executives, building professional credibility and mutual trust and ensuring that they have access to high-quality HR advice.

• Administer Character’s benefits and leave.

• Augment company onboarding and offboarding.

• Set up company wide feedback and review processes.

• Build out personnel policies and recordkeeping.

• Manage and resolve HR-related disputes and investigations.

• Create an MVP for employee training and development needs, with an emphasis on management training programs. 

Requirements:

• 10+ years experience as an HR generalist and in HR management, preferably in a tech or innovative industry.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

• Exceptional ability to partner cross-functionally with Legal and Recruiting teams and to relate well to technical teams.

• Strong understanding of flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in the workplace. We aren’t just looking for you to do what you did in your last role. 

• Knowledge of HR software and analytics tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).

• HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
