AMD together we advance_ THE ROLE: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Hardware Development Engineer with a strong background in system board design to join our hardware engineering team. This role involves the end-to-end design, development, validation, and release of complex PCB-based systems for next-generation electronic products. THE PERSON: You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to bring high-performance, reliable, and cost-effective products from concept to production. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead or contribute to the design and development of multilayer printed circuit boards (PCBs) for embedded systems, servers, or consumer electronics. Translate system-level requirements into board-level architecture and component selection. Perform schematic capture and collaborate with PCB layout engineers to implement high-speed, high-density board designs. Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to design standards, quality metrics, and industry best practices. Validate and debug hardware using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers. Support the bring-up of new hardware platforms and work closely with firmware/software teams on integration. Generate and maintain detailed documentation including schematics, BOMs, layout files, and test procedures. Ensure DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFT (Design for Test), and signal integrity throughout the design lifecycle. Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to support prototyping and production ramp-up. Stay updated with emerging technologies, components, and design methodologies. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Seasoned experience in hardware/system board design. Proficiency in Concept schematic capture tools. Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging, and testing. Solid understanding of high-speed digital design, signal integrity, power distribution, and EMI/EMC. Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, USB, DDR, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, UART, etc. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Experience with high-performance SoC/CPU-based board designs. Knowledge of thermal and mechanical constraints in board design. Familiarity with regulatory compliance (FCC, CE) and environmental standards (RoHS, REACH). Experience with simulation tools (e.g., HyperLynx, SPICE, SI/PI analysis). ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
