Data Scientist I, Life Science Feasibility Analytics

The Feasibilities team is seeking a data-driven analyst to work at the intersection of Sales and Data Science. This role partners with clients to define patient cohorts of interest, define appropriate data modalities necessary to answer client research questions, and prepares data for delivery. You will develop deep expertise in the Tempus Data Model and help clients create patient cohorts that meaningfully advance their research goals.
What you’ll do:
Support partnership development between Tempus and the Life Sciences industry by identifying patient cohorts for Tempus’ oncology data licensing business
Partner with Tempus’ Pharma Business Development and Life Sciences Strategy & Operations teams to generate fit-for-purpose cohorts supporting pharma research
Support monitoring of the volume and profiles of inbound requests, generate analytics in order to gain insights on customer needs, and propagate feedback throughout the organization
Maintain code, technical processes, and documentation
Support integration of new data sources into feasibility/team operations
Mentor and train team members
Qualifications:
1+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in an analytical or consulting role within or in support of the Life Sciences or Healthcare industry
Strong command of SQL and other scripting languages (R or Python)
Experience using Excel, Google Sheets, or equivalent spreadsheet software
Experience in oncology, cancer genomics, molecular biology and/or clinical trials, as demonstrated by focus area in school/university, a side project, or previous work experience
Experience building client-ready deliverables and other outputs
Comfortable working in a client-facing, fast-paced environment
Experience working with disorganized data from various sources and translating raw data into practical insights and recommendations
Experience with data manipulation, cleaning, and visualization
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse audiences
Ability to prioritize work independently, take ownership of deliverables, navigate ambiguity, shift priorities seamlessly, and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
Goal orientated, self motivated, and driven to make a positive impact in healthcare
Curiosity and willingness to learn skills to elevate the use of automation in commercial operations
Thrive in a fast-paced environment and willing to shift priorities seamlessly

Salary Range: $75,000 -$110,000 USD
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from California and may vary for other locations (Colorado, Illinois, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
