Data Engineer II, Test & Validation Labs, Battery
Job Description
We are looking for a Data Engineer to join our Powertrain Data and Automation Team supporting Battery teams at Lucid. This role is critical in designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines that power insights for validation and test operations. You will be responsible for acquiring, transforming, and visualizing data from diverse sources, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and actionable.
Responsibilities:
- Data Pipeline Development: Build, and maintain data pipelines for test and validation labs, including data acquisition, ETL processes, and data storage solutions with guidance from Senior data engineers.
- Data Acquisition: Develop and integrate solutions for acquiring data from test equipment, ensuring proper setup and calibration of data acquisition systems.
- Data Visualization: Create dashboards and reports to visualize key metrics and insights using tools like Tableau and/or Grafana.
- Collaboration: Work closely with test engineers, validation teams, and software developers to understand data requirements and ensure seamless integration with lab operations.
- Technology Integration: Implement and manage containerized applications using Docker and deploy solutions in cloud environments such as AWS.
- Protocol Expertise: Develop systems that interface with EV industry protocols such as CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP, and other relevant standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Optimize ETL pipelines and data acquisition setups for performance and scalability.
Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in Python for ETL workflows.
- Strong familiarity with AWS cloud services for data storage and processing.
- Proficient in Docker for containerization and deployment.
- Knowledge of EV industry communication protocols such as CAN, Modbus, and TCP/IP.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with test equipment and data acquisition system setup.
- Familiarity with database systems (e.g., PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Self-driven and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering (ECE), computer science, or a related field.
What Makes You Stand Out from the Crowd?
- Work experience in the EV or automotive industry.
- Prior experience of working with chambers, battery cyclers and/or test equipment related to powertrain and/or inverter module testing systems.
- A solid understanding of SCADA systems and how they integrate with test and validation lab data pipelines.
- A creative approach to problem-solving, with examples of implementing innovative solutions in test and validation contexts.
