Horizons is responsible for Gemini’s Code, Thinking, and Reasoning performance.

The Role

Key responsibilities: 

  • Design experiments to improve Gemini’s capabilities as a software engineer. 
  • Create evaluations to measure key software engineering capabilities.
  • Responsibilities may include creating evaluations to measure Gemini’s capabilities as a software engineer, running RL experiments to improve them, and designing novel agent harnesses & agentic capabilities. 
  • Build infrastructure components necessary to facilitate research.
  • Work with a cross-functional research & infrastructure team.

In order to set you up for success as a Research Engineer at Google DeepMind,  we look for the following skills and experience: 

Requirements

  • Understanding of LLMs & recent RL methodology 
  • Experience running ML experiments 
  • Experience developing LLM-based agents

In addition, the following would be an advantage:

    • Systematic thinker and engineer who find joy in traversing the full stack.
    • Positive, gritty technologist who can overcome ambiguity and pressure to deliver what is sought by users in a short time frame.
    • Rigorous and meticulous analyst who will want nothing but the best datasets / experiments they can curate.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between 141,000 USD - 202,000 USD + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
