The Job

Suki is seeking a dynamic and experienced Clinical AI Informaticist to drive the strategy and development of our AI-powered clinical solutions. In this pivotal role, you will be the voice of the clinician within our product and engineering teams, ensuring that our products are not only technologically advanced but also intuitive, effective, and indispensable to daily clinical practice. You will leverage your deep understanding of clinical workflows, electronic health records (EHRs), and the challenges facing healthcare providers to guide the product roadmap and feature prioritization.

The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of clinical expertise, product management acumen, and a passion for technology. You will be responsible for the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and user research to launch and continuous improvement.

As a key member of the Suki Product and Clinical team, you will play the essential role of owning the clinical nomenclature that enables healthcare interoperability. The team will rely on your expertise and detailed curation of the datasets that enable Suki to encode clinical terminology and integrate with third party software.

You will define the set of clinical terminologies that lay at the foundation of Suki’s intelligence. You will collaborate with a team of expert technologists to develop a next-generation experience for clinical software, and help ensure that Suki can interoperate widely with the healthcare ecosystem. You will help the team imagine how clinical practitioners can generate all the data a complex healthcare system needs, using natural human interfaces that fit seamlessly into their practice. Your contributions will be key to realizing a future where technology is invisible and assistive in medicine.

Responsibilities 

  • Product Strategy & Vision: Define and articulate a clear product vision and strategy for Suki's clinical features, aligning with the company's overall mission and business objectives.
  • Clinical Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert on clinical workflows, documentation standards, and the needs of various medical specialties. Translate these clinical requirements into detailed product specifications and user stories for the engineering team.
  • User-Centric Design: Champion a user-centered design approach, conducting in-depth user research, interviews, and usability testing with clinicians to deeply understand their pain points and needs.
  • Roadmap & Prioritization: Develop and maintain a prioritized product roadmap, balancing new feature development, enhancements, and technical debt. Clearly communicate roadmap decisions and the "why" behind them to all stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customer success teams to ensure successful product development, launch, and adoption. Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and rapid iteration.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize data analytics and user feedback to inform product decisions, measure success, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Market Intelligence: Stay abreast of the competitive landscape, industry trends, and emerging technologies in healthcare AI and clinical informatics.
  • Go-to-Market: Collaborate with marketing and sales to develop compelling product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.

As Clinical AI Informaticist, you will collaborate with our product team-helping refine the existing product and design new features with the clinician's needs in mind.

  • Champion clinician centric design: Help lead the development of the AI digital assistant with the needs of clinicians and patients at its core, ensuring it seamlessly integrates into clinician workflows and enhances the user experience.
  • Translate clinical language into AI logic: Collaborate with AI Engineers to translate your clinical expertise and workflow insights into actionable features and algorithms for the digital assistant. Create and establish AI quality metrics and safety standards.
  • Continuously refine and optimize: Analyze user data and feedback to measure the impact of the AI assistant and identify opportunities for ongoing improvement, ensuring it remains clinically relevant and valuable. Evaluating quality and providing feedback to the team.
  • Roadmap and Discovery: Lead user feedback and discovery sessions to evaluate designs/features and define future roadmap features. 
  • Represent the company at industry conferences and events, advocating for the use of AI in healthcare.

Requirements 

  • Clinical Background: MD, DO, NP, PA, or RN with significant clinical experience in a hospital or ambulatory setting.
  • Location: San Francisco Bay Area preferred 
  • Product Management Experience: 5+ years of product management experience in the healthcare technology sector, preferably with a focus on clinician-facing products.
  • EHR Knowledge: Deep understanding of major EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, athenahealth, AllScripts, and/orMeditech) and the complexities of clinical data and interoperability.
  • AI & Technology Acumen: Strong interest in and understanding of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing.
  • Excellent Communication: Proven ability to communicate complex clinical and technical concepts to a diverse audience, from clinicians to engineers to executive leadership.
  • Leadership & Influence: Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, build consensus, and drive projects to successful completion in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to think strategically and creatively to solve complex problems and identify new opportunities.
  • Passion for Healthcare Improvement: A genuine passion for improving the lives of clinicians and the overall healthcare experience.

Who You Are:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy degree and hold a valid medical license in your region.
  • You have at least 5 years of postgraduate clinical experience.
  • Location: San Francisco Bay Area preferred
  • You have a passion for patient care and the potential of technology to improve healthcare quality and experience.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and are able to identify clinical challenges and translate them into potential AI solutions.
  • You are adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with evolving technologies

Bonus points:

  • Experience working with digital Health tools or AI Solutions in healthcare. 
  • Strong research and analytical skills.

In compliance with the State of California Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is between 200k and 220k in CA.  This range is not inclusive of any discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
