About the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office 
 
The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) is a Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) responsible for the acceleration of the adoption of data, analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate decision advantage across the Department of Defense (DoD). The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), Defense Digital Services (DDS), Chief Data Office (CDO), and forward-leaning programs of record including Advana have officially joined together to form one organization – the CDAO! The CDAO is established to enable the Military Departments and Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and other DoD Components, to swiftly introduce new capabilities and effectively experiment with new operational concepts in support of DoD's warfighting missions.
 
The CDAO Algorithmic Warfare (AW) Directorate is charged with the advancement of algorithmic warfare and innovation in the Department’s warfighting efforts. AW will create opportunities and advance artificial intelligence processes and drive innovative technology to service members. As a Division Chief of Infrastructure and Platforms, the incumbent oversees enterprise data, analytics, and AI platforms, including Advana, Advana Edge, and SUNet, while supervising personnel across multiple branches responsible for infrastructure, application, and product management. Responsibilities encompass managing project plans, resource allocation, and metrics, as well as overseeing test plans and personnel-related processes. Additionally, the role entails managing division expenses, forecasting budgets, and planning for future needs, while applying technical standards and theories to develop system test solutions within technical, schedule, and cost constraints, staying updated on relevant standards in data management, analytics, and AI.
 
This position is a DoD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 U.S.C. 1599f and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. This announcement is only open to federal civilians currently employed within the CDAO Algorithmic Warfare Directorate. The pay grade for this role is GG-0340-15.
 
This role will close for submissions on March 29th, 2024.

Qualifying Experience:

  • For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience in supervising personnel comprising of engineers, scientists, technical, product management, and user experience personnel dedicated to data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) systems, budget management, and project test plans, schedules, resource requirements, and operational testing.

  • Manages enterprise data, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms, including Advana, Advana Edge, and SUNet.
  • Manages personnel across multiple branches responsible for infrastructure management, application management, and product management related to all enterprise platforms under management.
  • Manages project plans, resource requirements, and metrics for all enterprise platforms under management.
  • Manages test plans for all platforms, tools, and infrastructure under management.
  • Performs all personnel-related processes such as selecting, rewarding, rating, and disciplining subordinate managers.
  • Manages division expenses, forecasts budgets, and plans for future needs like equipment, facilities, and human resources.
  • Applies technical standards and theories to develop system test solutions considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Stays updated on relevant test and safety standards applicable to data management, analytics, and AI.
