AMD together we advance_ The Role: We are looking for an experienced engineer to help shape the future of FPGA development by integrating AI technologies into the Vivado design environment. In this role, you'll lead the development of powerful new capabilities in Visual Studio Code (VS Code), enabling intelligent FPGA design through custom extensions, GitHub Copilot integration, and advanced AI-enhanced tools. As part of the Vivado R&D team, you’ll work at the intersection of modern development environments and traditional hardware design workflows—empowering users with smarter, more efficient design experiences. . Key Responsibilities: Design and develop robust VS Code extensions tailored to FPGA design workflows Implement GitHub Copilot integrations for hardware description languages such as Verilog and VHDL Build intelligent developer tools that enable features like AI-assisted code completion, error detection, and design optimization Develop integrations for AI-powered assistant interactions, including Model-Centric Programming (MCP) capabilities Collaborate with AI/ML experts to integrate large language models into FPGA toolchains and development environments Contribute to the evolution of AI-driven design workflows within the Vivado ecosystem Work closely with UX designers, FPGA engineers, and product teams to align tooling with real user needs Preferred Skills and Experience: Extensive VS Code extension development with a proven track record of rolling out to a broad FPGA customer base Experienced in VS Code extension development with a strong background in FPGA design methodologies and tool development. Deep understanding of GitHub Copilot architecture and extension development Advanced knowledge of Verilog/SystemVerilog, VHDL, and modern FPGA design flows Experience implementing Language Server Protocol (LSP) for hardware description languages Practical experience integrating AI/ML models into development tools In-depth knowledge of FPGA design methodologies and tool development GitHub Copilot architecture and Language Server Protocol implementation, with proven expertise in integrating AI/ML models into development tools Strong familiarity with current AI technologies applicable to hardware design Education: Engineering degree in a related field #LI-RA1 Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
